I had the first occurance of NHL in my groin area - top of the left leg but I get checked yearly with ct's of the abdomen and pelvis. The second occurance was under my left breast.

I can't remember the whole name of my NHL, will have to look it up. I am a 20 year survivor from the first diagnosis and they consider me cured.

I will try and look up the rest of the information tomorrow. Blessings, Blueroses.

My husband also was dx'd in left groin. Diffused large B-Cell, Stage 4. Six rounds of CHOPS with Rituxin. Love to hear that Blue Roses is a long time survivor. Gives hope to the rest of us. My husband is two years into remission. PET scan will be in two weeks and plan on continuing remission. HOPE AND ATTITUDE is so important. Love survivior posts.

Love the word 'cured', dislike the word 'remission
I agree, nothing better than hearing your doc say 'we consider this a cure'. It's probably just my way of thinking but I have always disliked the word remission and I will tell you why. For me when I thought of my cancer free state as being in 'remission' it sort of inferred, to me anywho, that it would return at some point - no question. I didn't like that feeling so I never used it. As far as I was concerned it was gone and that was it. Maybe I was setting myself up for a big fall but as it turned out it has never returned and I think about all the time I might have wasted worrying that it would and it wouldn't have anywho. Know what I mean?

Every case is different though, as people are different and our cancers are different, but for me not using the word remission made me at the very least feel like I was on the road to healing, not just waiting for the day it came back, as I feel the word remission implies.

When you're right, you're right. Going to lose that word "remission". If you are constantly waiting for it to recurr, then you aren't truly living to the fullest. I like your attitude, Blue Roses. Thanks for your story.

I Say Cured
Most doctors will never use the word cured. In fact, many are reluctant to even use the word remission. The word "cure" is powerful, which means it gives power. I will speak only for myself that it is empowering to me to use the word cure.

I have a favorite expression, that I actually use the word remission:

"As I continue down the road of remission, I will keep looing in my rear view mirror to make sure that you're still following me."

Also, I list my residence as Club Remission.
