Naaaa... I've seen it too, Phil. My guess is that someone has come in and posted something inappropriate and the one post has been removed, but since the topic is still there, the message counter is still counting the missing post.
I have no idea if that is the case on this forum, but that's how other forums' software has worked.

I was wondering that myself.

Weird posts
Early this am I saw some inappropriate posts for businesses, drugs, etc. I usually report these to CSN, but before I could they disappeared, and the Anonymous appeared, so I assume these were the threads where the posts showed up.
Geez, we have enough problems without being bombarded by 'try my miracle cure' snake oil salesmen! Good job, CSN.

LOL Phil!! You are baaaaad!!!
Thanks... pic was taken last night when I was out for dinner with ex co-workers and my ex-boss
Hahaha... there were four of us... and we all are going to retire within months of each other. So we have already arranged to have a get-together in June so we can all go over our retirement options and what affects who, etc.
Any excuse for a get together and pizza!!

One time Vicki, I saw one of those posts, and it was for people who have used Avastin, this was about 4-5 years ago after it went on the market. The article was about whether the price of the drugs was worth the extra "time" they brought people. So I wound up speaking to this reporter on the phone and then they sent an Associated Press photographer to my house to snap some photos of my, one of them wound up on various websites. They also had a photo of some other guy who was in a chair getting chemo. The article must have been on 50 websites at least. It was pretty cool. I obviously was all for the drug, who cared what it cost since it helped me stay alive. I also had a writeup in the NY Times once for a Gilda's Club article. No photo though...
Here's the shot they used. So far I have 30 minutes of fame :-)

I have a friend who is now a spokesperson for one of the drug companies...I think it's Avastin also, but won't swear to it. He is 3 years into stage 4 colon cancer, two recurrences in the liver. Anyway, they painted his picture on the outside of their building (temporarily for marketing purposes) and used him on the cover of their Annual Report. He travels (when he can) to make speeches for them. Right now he is in a another chemo run, after another liver surgery. But he's a fighter and we know he will prevail yet again. He's working on a book about his journey, and he's a fabulous writer, so I can't wait for it.
The posts I was talking about were way weirder than Major drug companies. They were truly snake oil. This morning it was all about business websites, including Google and Microsoft. I don't know what that has to do with us???
As a publisher, I have to say...great press shot!

I work for a major textbook publisher. I am part of the composition team that takes the design and content and put them together, by magic!
That's great about your friend, please let me/us know when his book comes out.
There are some strange ads/emails that find their way into sites. I know that they often "fish" or maybe it's "phish" for email addresses. There is a site that will take your email address encode it so it can't be found by those robot email searcher thingies (am I being too technical here?) but that's really only good if you are designing websites.
I hope all is well

Ah, you work for the big guys! I own a small magazine publishing company. I do the editing (along with a contracted Managing Editor) and advertising, plus some additional desktop publishing. I farm out the graphics and design and, of course, the printing and I have a contractor who handles circulation. We are a niche market - machine quilting. I had two magazines, one for the professional and one for the home quilter, but they were competing with each other and had too much crossover, so we combined them in one, larger publication. It's fun, and I can do it all from my home office. I worked for large companies and national magazines for a few years, but I wanted control and now i have it, for better or worse!
I know about the phising emails, etc., it just irritates the bejeebies out of me.

coming on less often has it's benefits!
I haven't been coming on so often and this is the second time I've come on to see obvious spam has been removed before I had to see what the spam was! You have to wonder if they really get enough of a response to such spamming to make it worth the time spent in posting that stuff! You know this isn't the only place they are going, and with the creating an account, etc ... I suppose it beats cleaning septic tanks for a living, but geesh!

Couldhave been a troll
A "troll" possibly. I had never heard of a troll in this context until I joined a few cancer support web-sites. Evidently there are people who intentionally post offensive and hurtful posts on web-sites like this just to upset people. Fortunately it seems the moderators usually catch them early on and delete the postings. Sad that people have to attack cancer patients and their families. The world is made up of all types - not all good.0 -

Sounds like very bad karma to me...
I would not doubt it. I remember finding this blog once called "T-Minus 5 months" or something like that where this guy (who also claimed to be a cop) said he had cancer and was going to commit suicide in 5 months. He was getting a big following of sympathetic people but it turned out that his "story" just didn't make sense at all. There were many inconsistencies and just plain wrong cancer info that myself a few others caught on and called him on. All of a sudden he disappeared. I don't think he changed him launch date, he just went somewhere else to get attention.
