Chronic Nausea

Hi
I started chemotherapy in December 08. I have experienced nausea since the onset of treatment. I have lost about 30 pounds to date (April 9, 2009). It has been 6 weeks since the end of chemo (had to stop due to weight loss and nausea)--and I stil have nausea and loss appetite.

I have had multiple tests----docs found nothing significant.

Has anyone else experienced chronic nausea (especially after treatment)?

I have stage one breast cancer ductal invasive carcinoma---triple negative.

    nausea
    DocGrace,
I am replying to your message and hoping others can answer as well.
My oncologist gave me anti-nausea pills to take for three days after each chemo treatment and the another for break through nausea if needed. These have worked for me and didn't know if your doctor prescribed anything for you.

I hope you are feeling better now since it has been a month since you posted this.
    Any updates?

    Margo

    nausea
I am just brand new here. I have very early ductal cancer insitu. Had a lumpectomy, not enough. having a mastectomy and re-construction on June 4th. Very afraid!
I hear ginger pills help with nausea. Take 3 days before chemo and continue every day.
Talk to someone in a health food store.
I am so afraid of all of this!!!

    welcome susanleff2
you have come to the right place to let your fears and worries out. We are all going through or have gone through most of the treatments needed in bc recovery. Nothing wrong with being afraid, but you should let your dr know how you are feeling and what your fears are so they can give you more information about what is going to happen next. They will also give you stuff for the nausea, and if it doesn't work, you tell them and they will give you something else, there are lots of different nausea meds now, and you just need to be vocal about it to the onc.
I will be thinking of you on 6/4, easy to remember, my mom's day and a one year anniversary of my brothers quintuple bypass(I still say wow when I think of it, I have pics!).
take care and come back if you have any questions. All of the people on this site are what we consider the sister warriors, and you are now one of us.

    New here and afraid
Thank you for your reply's. I am doing a little better with the fear
factor. I strive for a positive attitude every day but somedays I feel
like a hero and some days like a victim. I am praying every day for
strength and to have less fear. I still cry often.
I ask the Dr. everything as well as my friends that have gone through this.
I do know that everyone is different. I'll make it, I know I will.
thanks again, and I will visit this spot often. good luck to all. :)

    To Kat11 & susanleff2
I'll be thinking of you both on your upcoming surgery dates. With heartfelt hopes that all goes well, with the best possible outcomes.

To susanleff2: It's completely understandable to be scared. Cancer is frightening. Try to remind yourself that breast cancer is one of the most survivable types. All of us within this group - including you - are survivors. Almost 6 years for me, and many here way longer than that. I'm doing well, and my doctor assures me that we'll grow old together. That being said, next to the actual diagnosis - my own surgery frightened me the most. Surgery will make the final determination of your next steps. The waiting is anguish. But, you'll get there.

Take care, both of you. Sending best wishes, and...

    Kind regards, Susan

    DocGrace, my oncologist put
DocGrace, my oncologist put me on Azmet which worked wonders for the nausea. It was very expensive and my prescription plan only allowed me the 1 prescription of 30 pills, but it did stop the nausea. Ask your oncologist about this medication. Hugs, Lili

    Ginger for Nausea
Hi DocGrace - Definitely ask your oncologist about the nausea, but also check out ginger as a wonderful remedy for helping with nausea.
