surgery scheduled...

I met with my surgeon and oncologist today. We usually all meet together when we determine courses of action. I don't know if everyone has the opportunity to meet with their DRs at the same time but this was the 4th time we've all met together and I really feel like it makes a difference. My thyroid surgery was rescheduled until the 1st of July. The surgeon wants to wait a few months to see if the 2 spots in my lungs, imaged in my last CT, get any larger. If they are indeed cancer then they should be large enough to remove by then. So the Dr wants to remove them along with the left side of my thyroid. Both of my Drs feel that I have an excellent prognosis. So, they gave me 2 months off before my next Drs visit. Wow, 2 months without any medical visits, whatever will I do?

    That's GREAT to have two months off!!! GO AND ENJOY!!
    I have an oncologist in one medical system and my
    surgeon in another so communication has been difficult.
    I would have both in same system except that I started
    out with an oncologist who discovered I needed liver
    re-section and the liver surgeon was in another system.
    Thankfully both in same city. So far I have been willing
    to stick with it but am monitoring it along the way and
    will change if there are problems.

    When I had "the big surgery" we all met but otherwise it's been seeing one, then the other. They do all communicate though so that makes me feel comfortable.

    Good news on the break
    Good to see they are so encouraging and are taking a practical approach.

    My medical oncologist and radiation oncologist are in the same hospital and work hand in hand. We did meet as a group, and separately, until radiation was completed. My surgeon is in another city and hospital, but we had conference calls from the oncologist's office before surgery. I feel like I have a TEAM.

    That's great that you get two whole months off! That's also wonderful that you can meet with both onc and surgeon together as a team. I'm envious of that! I found that I had to be the liason between my surgeon and oncologist, unfortunately. When I tried to change oncologist's to the one who works in the hospital where the surgeon was, my insurance wouldn't let me & still won't let me change. (their HMO rule is "you can't change doctors while in the middle of treatment". As a stage IV patient still undergoing treatment (now "maintenance"), does that mean I can never change doctors?! Anyhow, that's another subject...)
    I'm glad to hear of your good prognosis and that you have a team working together for you.

    It is great when your team works together for you.

    At our cancer center the oncologists, radiologists, and surgeons have round table meetings (once a week)and between them all, they decide the course of treatments. Then whom ever you are dealing with relays your next course of treatment.

    Enjoy your time off, I am sure you will get in a lot of fishing.

    Great!
    Just get out and enjoy your family, and feeling maybe "normal" for a change. I'm sure you'll think of puhlentyyyy too do. I been recuperating from surgery for the past 5-6 weeks, chemo was cancelled, and besides being sore from the surgery, it was nice not too feel so tired all the time from the chemo, though I been feeling very tired this last few days are so, but I'm anemic, and maybe my iron is just low.

    Hope you get out and have a blast!

    That for sure. good news, When angel was off for 2 months it was like a vacation no chemo no tests he said it felt good not to have anything done.

    Perfect timing
    What better time to have a "break" than just when the weather is getting nicer (atleast where I live)
