    Hi Jamie59... My husband, age 52 was just diagnosed also. Adenocarcanoma panc head stage 3 with involvement of the SMA. In 4 days he starts chemo & radiation to shrink tumor away from the artery. Are you undergoing similar treatment? His therapy will continue 6 weeks, wait 4 more weeks then repeat CT scan to see it the treatments worked. If so he will have whipple -if not, unsure of what will be next. Don't really know anyone that's gone thru such a treatment. Can only hope & pray it works. Our prayers for your recovery also. We most definitely need to remain positive.

    Hi

    In August 2007, I was diagnosed with an adenocarcinoma of the body of the pancreas, Stage IIB. I was 41 and until a month before diagnosis, I had no symptoms at all. One week later I underwent a distal pancreatectomy & splenectomy. 4 weeks following that (I recovered from the operation well) I started a 6-month regime of Gemzar and Cisplatin weekly for 3 weeks followed by a week off. I was lucky to have little or no side-effects from the chemotherapy. I then had a month's break and started a chemoradiotherapy regime for 2 months with 5-FU and daily radiotherapy. Since my surgery my CT scans have shown "no evidence of disease" and my CA 19-9 marker tests have all been normal.

    I am now 20 months since diagnosis. I feel great, am fit and well and back to work full time. I have no side-effects from treatment except the possibility that I am now infertile as menopausal symptoms have kicked in ( but I am blessed with 2 kids already), and blood sugars that are a little raised above normal. I can eat and drink normally (although I don't eat meat through personal choice, and have cut out all refined sugars because of the raised blood glucose levels). The only outward sign that I had anything serious at all is the fact that my weight has dropped from a UK size 12-14 (US size 8-10) to a UK size 8 (US size 4). This has now stabilised now all treatment has stopped.

    I now have a wonderful collection of surgeons, oncologists and an endocrinologist who have worked hard to see me through this far. On an emotional level, my family, in particular my husband, has been thoroughly supportive and loving and my friends an inspiration.

    My attitude throughout has been entirely positive and while my clinicians don't put a time-line on any prognosis, then I won't either!!

    Good luck to all of you who, like me, have been unfortunate enough to be struck with pancreatic cancer, and keep fighting!

    Dr. Jeanne Wallace PHD,CNC . She specializes in cancer patients and provides a nutritional and supplement protocol specific to each individuals health situation. She does charge for her services. You can find out more by exploring her website. We hired her shortly after I was diagnosed. The amount of information she gave us was overwhelming at first but through the telephone conferences included in the fee, I am now on a diet that I believe has been helping me to fight my cancer. I also take supplements recommended by her. Each recommendation comes with an explanation of the science behind the food or supplement including notation of the studies that support it.

    From what I see is she cost a lot.. 350.00. does anyone know a good free nutritional guide?

    Hi LindaNuc,

    I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Dec 2004. My tumor was also inoperable due to the fact that it was in my portal vein. I under went 6 weeks of radiation treatment along with oral chemo. After this treatment, my tumor had shrunk enough that I was able to be operated on. Just remember that all things are possible with God.
