Thanks for all the info you give us
Well, Green, you've been able to push thru your other problems so I'm sure you can deal with this also. I can imagine how uncomfortable it must be to have so much fluid in your abdominal area. You said 3 and 1/2 liters--isn't a big bottle of soda 2 liters? I was never told how much fluid I had back in Jan. 2007 but I know my stomach was bloated. Even though I'm in remission, my stomach bloats from time to time due to other things but it doesn't stay that way. I think it's due to fluid retention from salty foods, slow intestinal system at times, plus the fact that lympe nodes were removed and maybe fluids build up more. Back when I was diagnosed the bloating didn't go away so I think that is the big difference, something I am wary of in case it happens again. I guess I'd be wary of any symptoms coming back that I had originally. Was that the case for you? Did you start having the same symptoms as originally or some different ones? Reading your posts I get alot of info about recurring ovarian cancer plus I admire your strength. Thank you. Elizabeth0 -

I have had fluid before but not where its a big discomfort like this time. Seems my fluid is coming back some since I had to slow down on water pills. What a cycle we all go thru. The radiologist tech told me its protein build up as is CA125. Not necessarily cancer but I am sure my high count it has something to do with it. She said some chemos cause fluid protein build up. I know as soon as I started taking Etopiside I did bloat and it didnt work on my cancer. As I have been told what heals you can also hurt you. Chemos can cause cancer. But I imagine Dr. will put me on taxitere again. I will find out Thursday the 30th. the bloating was a lot couldnt sleep or eat very well lost 10 pounds not including the fluids. Needing to lose some guess it wasnt such a bad thing LOL Your very kind Elizabeth to admire me. I really havent had severe pain or any but one surgery no radiation, so far I have been somewhat "lucky." Or as we know the good Lord has been with me. My mom looked at me the other day and said you are going to beat this. So matter of fact as if it came from up above. Whether I am cured or not I hope my case helps and encourages others. For as you know only God knows when we will move on and take our wings. I try not to think about it. It is hard when your weak and go from bed to recliner and have to have people do things. But I believe my strength will be back as God gives us each other to lean on. I am real emotional right now. God Bless

Water Pills
Hi Sandy, I'm starting to have a little water retenstion, so after chemo today the Onc gave me a script for water pills but advised me to make sure and eat bananas and tomato juice for potassium. Without potassium you will feel weak. Baked Potatoes are also good. That was a lot of fluid in your stomach. Your an inspiration to me and I know alot of other women on this board. Your a real Teal Warrior.
Sending you lots of Hugs and Prayers, Terry0 -

Yes Dr. is making sure potassium is not low. I was eating bananas and ran out. Did have some V8 and potatoes. Thank you for info though. Its a vicious cycle. Question is will I be up to chemo which I need to be for as high as count is. They did take my CBC and seemed ok last week. Will stock up on bananas. My feet have been cramping and my hands which my hands never done that before so guess I had better get some potassium. thanks again

Dearest Sandy,
I am sorry to hear your ca125 is climbing so high and now to add to it fluid build up. I know the first time they drained my abdomen it was over 6 liters and then about every 3 weeks I would go in and drain 3-4 to keep me comfortable. They thought it was the cancer but actually a lymphocele from where a lymph node was removed, still have a fluid sack but doesnt' get that big anymore. It is very uncomforatable and can cause so much pain ~ kind of like becoming 8 months pregnant very quick. I hope the docs have a standard order for you to call in and get the fluids drained for comfort.
I will be anxiously waiting to hear what your scan results are and praying it is just the protein and not the cancer growing. Sending lots of hugs n prayers your way. Bonnie0 -

Wow you had 6 liters and I thought 3 and half was bad. Thank you so much for your prayers. This week I really am emotional and need them. I may have to be drained again but its not bad yet. I take the stupid water pills and it causes blood pressure to go down then of course I am weak. And pills don't take off all the fluid. Dr will hopefully get the right chemo and it can help fluid build up to as well as cause it. I don't know what else they can give me besides taxol or taxitere but I am sure they will help me. After all I am still not bad after 7 years. So Bonnie all is well so far with you I pray. You have been on a long hard road too. Dr. usually does what I feel is right too as long as he knows its not hurting my body worse the wrong way. He is an excellent DR. and the nurses are very good too. They are in their 40s and 50s. I had an excellent dr for first 5 and half years and he retired at age 60. HIs dad had died of cancer at 68 and he wanted to travel. He was so good and young looking for 60 but I was happy for him and his wife and he referred this young Dr to the cancer center and he is excellent too. So I got lucky. So Dr will have a plan for me when I get there Thursday on another direction. I thank you Bonnie and all you who are here for support. It means a lot to have someone who understands. God Bless

Well its not real good but still not in vital organs. They grew some, my spleen where it all came back the first time has grown 2cm, From 3 to 5 the one below liver in lymphnode grew .2mg NOt bad, and the one on my lower left grew some too. The worst is probably the fact I have little ones on my omentum or whatever they call it that surround your stomach or lower area. The omentum can go into bowels and close off bowels but for now they are small and I have been using restroom fine. So he is sending me to my gyno/oncologist who did my surgery and sent me to cancer center. Gyno/onco comes every two months to my cancer center in Muncie and he is in Indie. I was happy he wanted the gynos opinion of what to use next since gyno specializes in ovarian and I have know him 7 years. They may give me something new drip drug with pill to help out or something but anyway next week will get in to see him and start the chemo hopefully. Tomorrow getting tummy drained so this weekend I will feel much better. I am sure they will find something that works. If it wasnt for my fluid I would feel fine. He can't believe I don't have pain or anything other then the discomfort from fluid and weak. So I am on the road to doing something. Thanks for your prayers

Hopefully the chemo will help both of us. I got my tummy drained and it was 4 liters this time. Hopefully I won't have to have done again at least for awhile. Yes the scan could be worse my mom worries and I told her that its not in vital organs so I will be around a lttle while longer. Maybe 30 years who knows. May we all be dancing soon. Wouldnt that be something a cure or something that takes it away and controls with no side effects? We could all meet central location and Thank the Lord together have a picnic. But will see Dr this next week. Again thanks Terry.

Sandy - how have you been feeling this weekend? I cannot believe all that you have been through with this fluid build up in such a short time and yet here you are, being positive and cheering others on. Once again, this site is just something to behold.
I had my omentum removed when I had my surgery in July of 2007 as it was already infected with the cancer - and though they did think it had involved the bowel once they got in there they found it had not yet happened after all. Miracles happen every day, you know?
You are with me in my thoughts and sending you a hug. Take care and let us know how things go.

Hi Sandy! I am sorry to hear of your high ca count. Stay strong-you will beat this thing. I am sure that they are gonna get you started on something that is gonna zap that stuff! I know that it is depressing going from your chair to your bed. My mom is having to deal with that too. Frustrating when you want to go somewhere and do something but are too weak. Eat well and get lots of rest and I know you will be dancing soon!! Keeping you in my prayers.
Keep us posted.
