This may not make sense
A lady friend of mine (in here) wrote something, and it turned out that much of it was from an old Paul Simon song (and I didn't know that at the time). I turned it, slightly, into this:
"Such is Life"
She said, "Honey, take me dancing."
But they ended up
sleeping in a doorway.
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!
Wearing diamonds on the soles of their shoes!
I can't help it:
Ask for a puppy and get a diamond bracelet.
Take care (Hope and Humor!),

Thanks Joe! Why is your screen name soccerfreaks?I am a soccer freak- I support a sad lil team in England called Manchester City.
I have to live if I ever want to see them reach the top of the league table! (hasn't happened yet in premiere league)

A lot of people are in that camp, Jennifer, wondering about the 'absurdity of it all'. Others, of course, think it is God's will or some such. I happen to be in a third camp, perhaps the minority camp, that thinks IT IS WHAT IT IS.
It is not so much different than a case of the flu, or the measles, after all. It is a virus. What makes it so noticeable, obviously, is the dramamatic impact it has on our lives (not excluding death, in many cases). We can blame ourselves or our environment. After all, in my case, the literature I read in 2005 indicated that 95% of those who developed tongue cancer were smokers or smokers/drinkers. I was guilty, if you will.
But what about all of the people who smoke and or smoke/drink who NEVER develop tongue cancer? IT IS WHAT IT IS. Blaming myself (blaming YOURSELF) will do no good. You have to accept the challenge before you and fight it with all of the weapons at your disposal. To my mind, those weapons begin with hope and humor.
To answer your question (:)), I coached soccer, here in the US, for 15 years prior to my first diagnosis and treatmentss. My son, in fact, went to England for a couple of weeks to play teams in the Gloucestershire area, when he was but 13 years old (his team won 4 of 5). His team stayed at a boarding school dormitory (it was Easter break for the students) and also spent a night or two with a local family while there.
They also attended an Arsenal game, so that he is now a devoted fan of that club. Me, I met a guy on this site who lived in Liverpool, and he sent me some Liverpool paraphernalia, and, thus I am now a Liverpool fan.
My daughter played throughout her time at college and coached both the boys and girls teams at an International School in the Netherlands, doing quite well, if I must say so myself.
I am aware, of course, of Manchester City, and how it lives in the shadow of ManU . As a Red Sox fan (baseball) I can assure you that your day will come. Hang in there.
Hope and Humor!
Take care,
Joe0
