To TGF re Mardi gras "joke
I hope I didn't insult or offend you with my observation of Mardi Gras and breastless. That was not my intent at all. I would never say anything that I thought would hurt one of my sisters on this board. Please let me know if I did so we can set this right.
Love and Hugs,
Donna

For goodness sake ....
Hi Donna ...
Of course you didn't insult or offend me with your Mardi Gras observation. I hope I didn't offend YOU. :-)
After living in the New Orleans area for 15 years ... and going to Mardi Gras ... I don't think there's much of anything that could offend me concerning Mardi Gras. If you've ever been ... you must know how ... literally ... anything goes. All I meant by my comment was that people are so drunk and out of it there ... and if we all lifted our shirts ... most of drunks wouldn't notice if we had scars all over our boobs ... if we had 5 boobs ... or no boobs. They aren't choosey. :-) Total acceptance. :-)
Are you in Louisiana?
hugs.

No! you didn't insult
Teena,
No! you didn't insult me at all. I know exactly what you mean about Mardi Gras, Anything goes! I don't live in Louisiana, I'd love to live in New Orleans, one of the few states i haven't lived in. Now I live in Texas, originally I'm from Chattanooga, TN. You are so right about the drunks and the flashing. Before I had a mastectomy, I wouldn't have considered lifting my shirt. But after the mast. I think it would be a riot just to see who noticed!LOL I'm glad we're good and you are no longer technically challenged after your cute birdie!

I'm sure I cannot describe Mardi Gras ... without it sounding like a "legal" mob scene/riot. I would suggest you Google it. You may end up with results about Mardi Gras in Brazil ... but keep looking until you find Mardi Gras in New Orleans ... then you'll have some idea what it is. Telling someone about it sounds makes it sound crazy (which it is) and would not make anyone in their right mind want to go. But ... it is truly one of those things you have to experience in person ... to really see what Mardi Gras is. It is a sight to behold ... and an experience no one would ever forget. It's one parade after another all over New Orleans (it's on a Tuesday ... day before ash Wednesday) ... riders on the parade floats toss "throws" to the people lined up on the street. Throws are things like cheap little toys, cheap crappy beaded necklaces etc. People go crazy to get that stuff. It doesn't take 5 minutes and you'll be acting just as crazy as everyone else. There's no school, banks are closed, no school etc. etc. etc. Many people dress in costumes and there's a LOT of drinking ... and craziness. Lots of people yelling "show me your (rhymes with bits)" and when you a girl lifts her shirt people throw cheap beads. Anyway ... google it ...
hugs.

In think that the Tuesday it is on is called Fat Tuesday and it has something to do with the season of Lent which begins, if I am remembering right, Ash Wednesday. I think that it started as a last party, celebration, blowing off of steam before the Lent Season. I always wanted to go to New Orleans for Mardi Gras because it looks so exciting and wild. Just like Spring break used to appeal to me. Not so much any more. Just too frantic and manic for me. But it does look like fun when you see it. All the parades and costumes etc. Googling it is a good idea because like Teena said it is a little hard to explain.
