Hello everyone,
I just wanted to say hello and ask if anyone has new ifnormation for Stage 4.
I have posted in the past but been taking care of everyone for a while. History: Husband dx'd 6/05 at stage 4. He has had most everything in different combinations and we are now back to Avastin. It seems to have stopped working.
I was just wondering if anyone has been given anything new or heard of a new treatment.
Husband had mets in liver and maybe both lungs. He had to stop working in January. He did wrok 3 1/2 years receiving chemo all along. I think that is a major accomplishment.
We have scans tomorrow and doc will see what to do next.
Again, hello to all here who helped me so much in the past and to those who have had to find this place recently. It is not the best place to be but I don't know what I would have done the first year without all of you to listen.

Treatments
Hi, Survivor Wife. You say your husband has been on 'most everything'. Does that include Erbitux? It's another biological. Presumably he has a good oncology team so you already are aware, through them, of the latest and greatest. I don't have any secrets, sorry. I know of some trials but most are more 'hail mary' stuff. Dasatinib is in stage II trials if there is one near you, but I hear that it is approved under compassionate care for those that are out of systemic chemo options. Here is the link for NCI clinic trials so you can search near you:
http://nci.nih.gov/clinicaltrials
Has he exhausted all of his non-systemic chemo options? There is a Liver Symposium coming up in Chicago that will highlight all the cutting-edge liver treatments. It is hosted and developed by Suzanne Lindley, so you KNOW it will rock. I already have my reservations and plan to attend. You would need to get there and pay for lodging but then everything else (including meals) is included for survivors and their lovegivers. Here is the link for that:

Good luck and come back soon.

Erbitux?
Has he tried that yet? I have been on it for 3 years dealing with lung mets with very good success. Why am I on it for 3 years you may ask??? That's a good question to which I have no answer. It working for me and others too. I did Avastin for a while too but after my initial run 5 years ago, I never went on it again.
So, I would look into Erbitux.
Good luck, let us know how things work out
