prostate cancer. We read on a site that many men using Flomax for both were having alot of same things happening to them that he was and some had switched to Saw Palmetto and Cranberry Extract capsules and were having better success with and the side effects got much better, such as getting up so many times at night the extreme pressure, etc., etc.. So, my husband had been using and has not taken his Flomax in a number of days now and is doing pretty good.

I haven't used saw palmetto, and I'm no healthcare professional, so I may be talking out of turn here (if I am, somebody let me know). But you may want to Google "saw palmetto prostate cancer" and have a look at what some of the established healthcare sites like Mayo Clinic or American Cancer Society have to say on the subject.

Thanks for your thoughts. I did do some research before we purchased.
He is having pretty good results, he hasn't had to use the Flomax.
He is gets really tired, which was happening before this, has not "get up and go"
as he says it. He had his five wks. of radiation in Nov. - Dec. and then Dec. 23, he had his seed implants, so from everything I have read, the tired feelings are normal, but he thinks that since it has been four mos., that he should not be feeling like this. What do you think? Is this something that you have had to deal with?

I appreciate your responses, sometimes you just need to hear someone else say that things are normal for most or not.

It does take a long time to recover from EBRT/IMRT. My RT was Sept/Oct 07, the last ADT shot was April 08. I am just getting back on my feet. Before PCa I was off road biking & enjoying life very much, that ended with PCa. It is very difficult to get back to normal life. And will probably never be the same. Just had hand surgery so that I can get back to riding, hopefully in 6 weeks. There is a small group of RT'ers that will suffer bad side effects for a long time after treatment. I've been incontinet #2 and this is slowly healing, but it took a long time to get the docs to see the problem and do something about it. This problem does not show up until 8 to 10 months after RT.
You should call the cancercare.org councelors, its free, talk to them.

Thanks for the info. again. It is nice to have someone say that some of this stuff is normal that my husband is going thru. I appreciate the site and will check it out for sure. Maybe I can even get him to call and talk to someone. Would be good for him. I wish he was a computer user, this would be good for him as well, communicating with men like you, but he just has never had an interest in them. So, I do and relay on to him.

There are times that we wonder what they may have done inside of him in the process of trying to stop his complications, the excessive bleeding out and taking out the lymph nodes and then aborting the surgery, too. I am praying that nothing was done, as in nerve endings, etc., but who knows. Really doesn't matter so much so because they saved his life. My husband has talked to two different people who had loved ones have the exact thing happen to them and they died, so he is so very blessed to have survived.
He is just ready to have all these feelings that he has go away or get much better. Is hard for very active men to do that, well, I guess would be for us women as well, just that along the way we have many things that slow us down, so God gave us a great deal of patience! At least that is the way it has been for me. I lost two sisters to breast cancer and my two children are my fourth and fifth pregnancies, had losses at different stages of pregnancy along the way til them. And then had double mastectomies and reconstruction as a preventative due to a precancerous biopsy, and family history. And lost both my parents, one from alzhiemer's. So, I guess i have learned a bit of patience along the way. Maybe getting me to this, who knows. God is great in that way, he prepares us! I am thankful!
