Hi: Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Kevin and an actor and musician in Denver, CO. My wife was diagnosed a year ago IIIC and it's really been a ride. In a twist of fate, my mother passed away from ovarian cancer in 1993, so I got the double whammy I guess and saw it first hand so it's been a little tough for me. I was impressed with all the comments and stories and positive attitudes that I read so I decided to register. I bought a teal wristband last week so I'm officially a teal warrior now.

My wife went through the heated intraperitoneal chemo about a month ago. It's very tough on her, (the diagnosis), but we have each other so we march on. She feels like everyone else's life goes on and we are stuck in cancerland.

I'm sending positive vibes to all,

    Welcome! You are a wonderful support system for your wife - that is obvious. I am so sorry you have experienced two people in your life with OVCA, but you have valuable knowledge for your wife, and probably a lot more patience and understanding than most people. I am so glad you found this site, and please encourage your wife to visit here as well. We have some incredible teal warriors on this site who are true inspirations, like Bonnie and Saundra.

    So sorry to hear about your mom, and equally about your wife. But you have come to the right place! As you can see, the diagnoses, treatments, etc. vary for each of us. But we are all survivors and have much to offer in regard to help and hope.

    There's no doubt this journey is a roller coaster ride. And oftentimes it's not difficult for cancer to become our identity. But each of us find our own way to handle the circumstances and continue to live life in the meantime. I'm so grateful for all the wonderful people here. And in the past year or two the discussion group has included men - fiancee's, and husbands.

    So we appreciate your insight and support. Please continue to visit us, and hopefully we'll hear from your wife soon also. As I said earlier, there's a great deal of support and help here. And it's a wonderful place to vent without condemnation or judgement.

    Welcome and ask all you want
    You have found a real source of support at this site. I, frankly, don't know how I would have made it these 2 years without the experience, love, and understanding of the ladies that post here. Great advances are being made every day, with this disease and we just have to fight on. I know the feeling about being stuck in cancerland...the first year was like that for my husband and me too. Now we try to plan special things in between chemos even if it's only a dinner out with friends. Keep checking in and keep us posted.

    Hi Kevin,
    So sorry to hear about your Mom and your wife, You will definitely find this a place to share your ups and downs, ask questions and help others. These are amazing woman here full of encouragement, enthusiam, compassion and support. Please come here as often as you want.
    I wouldn't know what to do with out my friends here.It's an awesome bunch of "Teal Warriors".

    Welcome Kevin -

    I am so sorry you have to be here on this board - but you've found a great spot to find/share tons of information. I lost a good friend to ovarian cancer 6 weeks before I was diagnosed - so I can share, in my own way, the feeling of loss and fear from knowing what was going to come my way too.

    The warrior women on this site will continue to amaze you over and over again, as will your wife. We've had other husbands who have been here - and I'm sure they will respond to you as well.

    Continue to post and maybe we will meet your wife soon as well. Sending nothing but good thoughts your way. Hugs to you both.

I have been fighting almost 7 years with ovarian and with the support of these people I have been encouraged and still learn things. I am sorry your wife has to go thru this and that you had to watch your mom pass from it. Medicines have come along way in the past 10 years. May we concur this awful disease.

    Thanks to all for the wonderful welcome. Today I got her to play golf at our club. She is actually a pretty good player - has had two holes in one to my one. Our friends were very glad to see her. We had the ladies play in a foursome and the guys played in a foursome. I lost $6 but it was well worth it.It was nice to forget about cancer for a few hours and the Cosmopolitan helped her spirits a bit. LOL!
