Hello all,

Given the circumstance of late, I thought I'd offer up this wonderful poem by Emily Dickenson, which many of you may know, but for those who don't....:
-----------------------------------------------
Hope

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune
Without the words
And never stops at all.
------------------------------------------------

A couple of years ago, our local Relay for Life organizer asked me to donate a piece of art for their raffle. (I am a collage artist.) So, taking the theme of hope, I created a piece using this poem, and it was very popular (I actually ended up being commissioned to make another similar one!!). It's interesting how things work out...now I'll be doing the survivor's lap this year...

With love and gratitude,
Debi

I love the quiet inspiration that comes in a few sentences. Here's one of my favorites..."Faith is the bird that sings to the dawn while it is still dark." (unknown author)

    Love it!
    I love that, dbs!

Maybe those who are interested could post their favorite inspirational sayings or poems here for all of us to enjoy and take into our hearts (and journals) for the times when we need these kinds of words???

Thank you for sharing yours, dbs.

    Hugs,

quoting from "The Shack* by Wm. Paul Young
    God is speaking:
"Mack, just because I work incredible good out of unspeakable tragedies doesn't mean I orchestrate the tragedies. Don't ever assume that my using something means I caused it or that I need it to accomplish my purposes. That will only lead you to false notions about me. Grace doesn't depend on suffering to exist, but where there is suffering you will find grace in many facets and colors."

Last fall, right after I was diagnosed, I picked up this book without having any idea what it was about and it turned out to be such a blessing to me. I recommend it highly.

I have seen the book, but haven't read it yet. I think it's time I got a copy!
Thanks for the great quote, and the recommendation.

    Daft "Tash Type" Poem
    Sorry.......I had to do it.

In the Manor house I lived in, everything was growing old
Silver shreads among the butter and the cheese was green with mold
When the dog died we had sausages, when the cat died: catnip tea
When the landlord died, I left there, spare-ribs were too much for me.

On my way towards the station, I met with a few odd glares
On my way down to the rail-track, slipped, fell headlong down the stairs
An old lady came up to me "Did you miss a step, My Son?"
I replied; "Oh No Dear Lady, I hit every bloody one!".

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your post, I just have a very warped sense of humour. Jadie, I didn't write this, I learned it when I was 8 in school (we had a nutter of a teacher)

    Oh, pleeease!
    Geez, Tasha!
Did anyone say we can't have some fun here amidst all the yucky stuff we have to go through? I don't think so!
Humor helps healing...so, no apologies needed!
