Want to apologize about my question about recurrance...
Just wanted to apologize about my post about recurrance after treatments. I should know better than that, but I wrote it when I was in a funk. I'm sorry if I scared anyone or gave anyone bad feelings because of it!

You have nothing to apologize for. We all think of a recurrence, so, why not discuss your feelings and fears? I posted a reply to your post on it. I think sometimes we don't want to talk about it or read about it because we are afraid it will happen to us. I think we think we can bury our head in the sand in the hopes that it won't happen, but, we all need to be educated and get our mammo's and any other tests done as needed and do self exams. We need to stay on top of it..always!0 -
Patty, we all have fears and
Patty, we all have fears and questions. This is the place to think out loud. We are here for eachother. I have a low chance of recurrence but yet still worry about it. Your question is not something we don't all probably think about and it is a part of having had cancer. Its almost a comfort to know that we are not alone in our thoughts---we are out there fighting together.0 -
Hi Patty,
There was nothing wrong with your question, we all think it and some of us have lived it. I myself have had breast cancer three times, but don't you dare count me out as I plan to live a long and happy life in spite of cancer. I am currently in remission and who knows I may remain there for the rest of my life. Enjoy your days Patty, you have worked hard for them.
Hugs,

My surgeon spoke recently at a local breast cancer support group. As he was wraping up, he asked if there were any more questions so I asked him if I should be getting yearly mamograms---- he thought for a moment and answered YES I should.
I never dreamed of having breast cancer in the first place but now I'll be checking on a regular basis to catch anything strange that comes along.
I am only the 2nd male case that he has operated on in a gazillion years of pratice.

nothing to apologize for
Patty, there's nothing to apologize for: you only put into words what we all worry about. Although we're all doing everything we can to fight this disease, ultimately it's out of control what happens which is the scary part. That's why this board helps me so much: at least we can all share with each other and realize that our feelings are normal.

apologize
Hi Patty,
I agree with the group. We all think about it and it is always at the back of our minds. I didn't respond to your first post because I felt that being a stage IV it would be redundant, and I didn't want to scare you. Even being stage IV, it is always at the back of my mind too. So you really taught me something with your post and for that I thank you.
We are all fighting the beast and we all have moments when we wonder, will it come back, where will it come back? We are all here to help each other fight the good fight. Thank you.
Love and Gentle Hugs,

I know that breast cancer is so less common in men than women. You are the 2nd man I know to have breast cancer and amazingly enough the other was named Bill. I find that a bizarre coincidence. By the way, I really enjoy your sense of humor. I am a little cooking challenged and so the chicken parmagini questions were so funny. When I was young and helping at a friend's house to prepare dinner, her mom asked me to wash the lettuce. She was a little appalled and surprised when she looked over and I was pouring soap all over it. I guess they weren't as into cleaniless as I was.

Your comment about the lettuce was downright hillarious! I love that!0 -
Nothing to apologize for...
Hello, Patty. The others have already said most of what I would've said if I had gotten to your post earlier, so I won't repeat their words. However, I think I'll add just one point: I don't think any of us should ever feel the need to apologize for coming here with ANY type of question - nor for seeking help, advice, support & encouragement. If we cannot speak freely here; then, what's the point? This is where we come because we face & understand ALL the issues others simply don't.
Still, I commend you for your sensitivity & good heartedness. I hesitate, too, with this particular aspect of our reality... on behalf of the newly diagnosed & those still in the throes of treatment.
You are allowed to be funky. :-)
Kind regards, Susan0 -
Patty, you have nothing to
Patty, you have nothing to apologize for. I think that deep down we all live with the fear of recurrence, and many on this site have had it return. Technically there is no cure for cancer so you're sort of in a remission state. Hopefully, that state will be with us for a long time and we may die of something else. But, in the meantime, please don't dwell on it. Enjoy every day and thank God for giving you another day to live. We will all die some day as we are not eternal, but hopefully we will have a long life to enjoy all the pleasures life can bring us. Hugs to you and welcome to this site. Lili0
