Surgery tomorrow
The bad news is that the liver had originally shown 1 spot. The pre surgery MRI now shows 3. This will require a second surgery on the liver in the months to come after some more chemotherapy.
I had hoped to tackle this in one operation. This is not the plan today. I rest my health in the competent hands of the surgeons and their knowledge of what is best.
Wish me well. I plan for a smooth operation and a quick recovery.
Mike

so good to hear from you
sorry you'll have to go through a second surgery and more rounds of chemo, but at least tomorrow you begin the surgical aspect of your fight! Your comment about planning for a smooth operation and a quick recovery shows you have the right attitude! Fight on!

My thoughts and prayers are with you for a successful surgery tomorrow. Remember to get up and walking as soon as they allow you as this will help you feel better sooner.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Kim0 -
best wishes
Hi,
We haven't heard from you in a while (or at least I haven't seen the posts)!
I will definitely be thinking of you and will pray for you- for guidance of the hands of the doctors and nurses involved, for successful surgery, and for a smooth and good recovery.
You may have read Nana B. is also having liver surgery this week. That's definitely a bummer that they found more tumors, and that they can't remove them all in one surgery. Do you know why- is it location? When I had my liver resection, the Dr. thought he was removing 3 tumors, but ended up discovering 3 additional and all 6 were removed at that one time (some in left lobe and some in right lobe). I know everyone's situation is different, but maybe he'll discover while he's in there that he can get them all at once after all? Well, even if not, you will get through this.
As Phil said, cancer doesn't know the rules or follow the plan very well.
I know you're a fighter and you'll be okay.
You take care and God bless-

Surgery
Well, I feel like a veteran with 5 surgeries in the last 20mos. I now look at surgery as a chemo break..LOL. You get good pain meds, no chemo, and the best advise is something I love to do anyway - walk. Get up and walk as soon as possible in the hospital. It is tough GETTING up that first time but the act of walking will help your pain management. Walk all day at the hospital and you'll get home sooner. Walk when you get home and it will help you physically, mentally and emotionally.
Good luck with the surgery and we'll be here for the next round of treatments. You are doing great!

Praying for you
Hi, Mike.
I'll certainly be praying for you as you go through this surgery. I can't wait until I get that message that you're FINE!
I'm sorry about the news about the liver. I know you were counting on this being a "one and done" kind of deal.
Let us know when you can about how you're doing after surgery!
*hugs*

Many well wishes!
Hello Mike! I wish you a smooth surgery, and speedy recovery. I also hope and pray that your next round of chemo will be all you need to kill those other two tumors! It happens all the time!
Many hugs!

It's already Wednesday where you are (8:30pm here in Hawaii) so today is your day. I'm saying a prayer for you now and for your surgeons. Post when you can but know that we will be with you all the way.
Aloha,

Hey, good luck and a speedy recovery. It can be a tough one to come back from but that is great that they can get some of it out! I had a liver resection in 2/07 so I feel for you. I'm sure that your strength and will can get you back up and moving soon! Good luck!

By now, you are probably sleeping after surgery and I hope you are
pain free......I had liver resection last July and they gave me so
much pain meds that I slept through most of the five days I was in
hospital....not good....no energy to get up and walk around....so
I hope they give you enough to ease the pain but not so much that
you can't function.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and return home and back on your feet.

I prayed as promised and
am remembering you and all your needs in prayer today.
