one where she is in extreme pain from her WBC booster shot thingy.

Well, those pains I posted about last, led me to going to the local ER Room, who just hooked me up to an IV of Diludin (sp?), and sent me home with a prescription for Prescription strength Alleve....well, when I got home, the pain was still there, and I was having shortness of breath. My hubby said we should go to the James, and went ahead and drove the 2 hours to their OSU Medical CTR ER Room, where they at least took an X-ray, and saw that I had ruptured in my colon, and that bowels were leaking into my belly.. I was told I needed emergency surgery, and may need a colostomy, (which I figured I would have had down the road eventually anyway) but if we didn't have the surgery, I would have died..
The surgery turned out a success, the surgeon told my hubby I was doing remarkable, there was alot of bowels, tumors, and was the worse part of the colon that had all that cancer (sigmoid?) and he said he got it all out, using 11 pints of sea salt in my belly as well, cleaned out my intestines, and I now have bag, and a painful incision which is being healed with a wound vac, it's painful, but it's supposed to heal the wound very fast and it looks really good, with no infections. I spent 9 days in the hospital getting better...I went in Tuesday night, and just got out today, and not a day went by that I wasn't thinking of you all here, and how alot of you have gone through this as well..
Can I be safe to say that I am officially a semi-colon now??? LOL
This was very painful and hard, and now am learning about the colostomy bag, I'm still alittle confused changing it, but hubby, bless him, knows more about it then I do, and has emptied it for me today, and even wants to change it, he really has been a godsend.

Unbelievable what a bad time you have been through but it
sounds like it turned out ok, thank god. I bet you
were terrified and I can't imagine getting through the two
hours drive to Columbus. Your husband is doing great
and helping a lot, so glad for that. Hope you continue
to improve.

What an ordeal. Did hubby punch out the lame-brain who gave you Aleve and sent you home? I know that's the LEAST thing I would have done.
Welcome back from the brink! We're so relieved you are back and seem to be doing well. Keep the faith and know - obviously, reading all of the above posts - that you are in the thoughs and prayers of many of your fellow SemiColons!

This is why we drive 2 hours to my treatments..the local hospitals suck, and don't specialize in cancers, but my aunt, who used to work at that hospital said anytime a cancer patient comes in complaining of pain, they are to immediately at least have an X-ray taken, that was a waste of time and money there... it was like 10:00 p.m. by the time we got to The James, had my surgery around midnight, the chief surgeon did my sx.

That's awful! I'm SO glad you went to another hospital and saw a 'real' doctor. You could have died from infection! Whew!
Glad the tumor is OUT and you're on your way to recovery. I'll be praying for you. God bless that hubby of yours for all his help!

It is so good to have you back. I didn't know what was going on but I figured it was something and you have been in my prayers. It is so cool how your husband has stepped up and is taking such good care of you... you deserve it.

Wow, Donna! I can't believe what you just went through. I have heard of Avastin causing a perforation in the bowel being a rare but possible side effect, but never knew anyone it happened to. I will know what to watch out for, since I have been on Avastin a long time.
What a wonderful hubby you have- bless him! Amazing and sad that the original guys in the ER sent you home with ALEVE- wow- what incompetence!! So glad for how it turned out for you. No lymph nodes affected- that's good news (means it never got to stage 3 yet).
Glad to hear back from you- you take care, rest up, and listen to your body- walk around as much as you can, but don't overdo it.
