Lurking, really hope you all start posting again. Newbies like myself, need all the help and advice we can get, heck we all do. You all have your beliefs, religious or not, but at the end of the day what you're doing for this forum is helping each other, and newbies. Please do not stop posting, this forum really is a good place. If you think I'm over reacting to that comment, just check out some of the English forums and you will understand. This place has a real sense of community, spirit and has an online family forum feel to it.

I'm sure there are a lot of people newly diagnosed upset, and not knowing where to go online. I don't want them to be put off by whats going on at present, I really don't. You all are doing a great job, of helping people. So please I really do hope to see you all replying to posts again.

    Hey Sonia,

    I don't the the faith argument should keep anyone away. After all, we are all different in faith, politics, body and mind. What we have in common is cancer. I won't stop posting here, and I hope no one else does either. We need everyone to be united in the fight against the beast and to help each other out. I don't think a lot of people will resign from this forum, because it is the best one out there (at least in my opinion.) Stay strong!

    I hardly read the backlash, but what is saw was very amusing yet frustrating at the same time. It is amazing how few people actually seemed to read how this all started. It was never said that one can not have (or express) their religious beliefs. Words were put into the mouths of others. Go figure but I am not surprised.

    I will be sticking around and giving information related to cancer survival. That's what this is supposed to be about, it's the American Cancer Society so I hope we can stay on topic. Feel free to ask away and if I can be of any help, still here after living with stage IV cancer for 5 + years and still in treatment while having a decent life, I will help out. I got myself out kayaking yesterday for the first time this year. It was great.

    ah, that sounds awesome! And here I thought I was special because the flowers are coming out and we are getting enough rain to expect a very nice spring indeed! Maybe it will be warm enough and nice enough next week to spend more time outside, but I'm thinking it's going to be a little bit until it's nice enough to go out on the water!

    I'm also new here, Sonia, since being dx'd on Jan. 2nd, so I don't have a lot of advice or expertise to share. I do care about people and can offer prayers and well wishes.

    Hope you're having a better day! I ran into an old fella from church on Tuesday who is all doom and gloom. Talking to him for five minutes made me about ready to pack up my clothes and call the undertaker. I had to remind myself that a man 80 years old remembers when cancer always meant a quick death. I spent five minutes reassuring him (and explaining that chemo does NOT hurt, burn you inside out, etc) yet walked away feeling a bit fearful and not as upbeat as before. Hope he doesn't make a lot of hospital visits.

    It was sunny and 61 yesterday, today it's 40 and raining. I had to strike while the iron was hot. Spring has sprung around by me. I recently bought daffodils (the official flower of cancer) and planted them. I buy them every year and every year they come back, it's great. Soon it will be garden time. I hope you soon get to go outside more Mary.
    BTW: I did not even feel the temp of the water, it looked cold.

    Hi Sonia,

    I will definitely keep posting and hopefully the banter back and forth (which I was definitely part of) has now died down. I'm back to hopefully doing what I enjoy doing- that's giving any helpful advice I can, encouraging others, and sometimes asking my own questions and sometimes asking for encouragement for myself when I happen to feel down. You're right- this is a really great site and people seem to almost respond like a "family".
    I'm sad to hear that you haven't found that to be the case on the sites in the UK. I wonder why, but oh well, let's just enjoy and support each other here!

    Sorry you have a need to be on this board, but glad you found it and will keep coming to it!

    Sonia.

    I think maybe it IS because we're like a family here that the squabbles come up now and then. I'm one of six kids (use the term loosely: I have grandchildren), and we love each other dearly, but we certainly don't always agree.

    So let's all be friends again and help each other.

    gets me every time! :) I didn't know daffodils are the official flower of cancer! I love daffodils and have them in my garden. Now, is it trumpet, large-cupped, small-cupped, double, triandrus ... :0
