Hurry up and wait.....
I haven't posted in a while, as we are still waiting for the results of a Pet scan, and CT Biopsy.
History - My hubby Bill dx'ed with colon cancer in Jan 06 Surgery, followed by another specialized surgery (Sugarbaker Protocol) in Apr 06.
He ended up with a permanent illiostomy, 9 rounds of folfiri. Re occurance in Jan 08 more surgery in Mar 08 to remove bladder - permanent illoconduit,(both of these are a very small price to pay). Abit of humor - when on road trips he does not have to make pit stops like the rest of us.....
The beast has once again reared its ugly head. It has spread to his liver, and possibly to his tailbone area. When they were going to do the CT biopsy (tailbone area), they showed us a shot from the Pet scan which was lit up, something none of us like to hear. We were told that if the cancer is in both places that the only thing they could do was chemo and hope to get it with that, where if it was only on the liver they could go ahead and operate. So here we sit on pins and needles again waiting for the results. Bill has also had the tailbone area abscess 4 times since his last surgery. He has had to be admitted to hospital everytime, and taken into to surgery to have it drained. Then he feels good for a while and is able to stop the pain meds. Lately he has started taking the pain meds again, so as soon as he starts the flu like symptoms it is bnack to the hospital again.
Not only does cancer suck, but so does the waiting!
I come here as often as I can to keep up on how everyone is doing, I may not post, but know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care
HUGS

Hi Sue,Wow- Bill (and you)
Hi Sue,
Wow- Bill (and you) have sure been through a lot. No one should have to suffer so much, but what can I say? This is life sometimes and we were never told life was going to be easy. I just wish it didn't have to be so rough!
I hope and pray Bill can keep finding solutions that will help him and also keep away the pain. Continue seeking additional specialists' opinions.
Take care and God bless,

I have been blessed!
We have been married almost 32 years, and I am counting on another 32.
When Bill was dxed they told us he had 2 years, and here we are all ready into year 3.
We have learned so much thru this experience, stop putting off everything that you say, you will do someday. We have done the traveling we kept putting off, we visit with family more, and we certainly apprciate every day we have here on earth. I am just sorry that it took cancer to make us realize what is important, and what does not matter at all.
Here in Canada it is not just one doctor that decides your course of treatment, but a bunch of onc's have round tables, and as a group they come up with the best plan. So we leave it in their hands, as well as God's.
They say that God never gives you more than you can handle, but some days I do question if I can handle all that has been thrown at us.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
HUGS,

Nice to see you again, Sue
Gosh, Sue...Bill sure has been through the wringer. I'm so sorry to hear about his struggles, and sorry you have to see someone you love suffer/struggle. I know from being on both sides of cancer, watching my mom go through the cancer experience, and going through it myself, I have to say it was harder to watch my mom deal with the highs and lows of cancer - I just love her so much. I feel for you both.
I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers - sending you both many well wishes for comfort and healing.
Warm hugs,

Thank you both for you well wishes.
It has been a struggle, but we try to keep it positive as much as possible.
On another note, I know you keep in contact with Mark (Limey), how is he? I think of him all the time - such a brave man.
I include you all in my prayers.

We spoke with Mark a few weeks ago - he is hanging in there bravely and with the humor and spirit that we all know and love him for. Mark is an amazing man - we care for him deeply. He is planning on joining us for Colon Palooza 7 (can you believe it's now 7?) in Key West in October - perhaps you might think about joining us too - there is a thread here with the info or for more drop Scouty a note. Scouty is the hostess with mostest for CP7.
I'll drop Mark a note and let him know you asked about him...perhaps he might check in here.
Warm wishes...Katie0 -

Thanks Katie,
I am glad that Mark will join you all for CP7. As for us, we will have to wait and see what course of tratment they plan for Bill. Hopefully we should find out tomorrow or next Thursday, as that is when our onc does the clinic.
Take Care!

Boy, you certainly have travelled a rough road, unpaved, uphill in a monsoon. Yet here you are, still fighting and still hopeful. You are an inspiration!!! I will be praying for you both.

Kirsten,
Yes some days it does feel like that rough road. We do occationally get knocked on our butts, but we pick ourselves up, dust our selves off and on we go. We have both never been quitters, and we sure aren't going to start now. We will keep doing whatever we have to in order to win this fight.

You are inspirations to us all. I like your attitude "pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off." Thank you for sharing your story.
