One year of chemotheropy and now it's spread to my liver back neck and I still have some fluid around my right lung. What kind of chemo drugs are next, as the one i was on are not working any longer. Any one here know about this?

    Sorry this is happening to you. I don't have an answer for your question but I wanted to let you know that you are heard. And comment on the siamese cat--I have one that looks very similar.

    Thank you for the welcome!
    The cats name is Pandy, we have 12, Pandy was the last born.
    He likes me to read war stories to him!
    As for the cancer my doctor will be reviewing the latest PETscan with my older ones and with the radiologist and get back to me next week with an answer as what to do next. I expected to hear the word Remission at the last appointment, so the news of more cancer spots was a very tramatic thing. This is my third battle with cancer, the last time being 13 years ago.
    The shock is over now and it's time to deal with it the best way I can.

    It's been a long road for you hasn't it? I am very sorry that you are facing this again, you'd think twice would be enough. I don't know what chemo they will use, but I do know there is something and there is a good chance it will be successful. You know I read on a site about a woman who developed mets and went on Tamoxifen which successfully shrunk all her tumours. The irony was, she had avoided Tamoxifen when first dx due to a belief she was prone to blood clots. So there are possibilities. Best of luck to you.

    And about the cats, I don't know how you can get anything done with 12 cats. I have 2 and the one comes to bed about 3x a night for loving (just like a guy :), the other one frequently needs cuddles throughout the day, and then it's in and out, out and in, and then it's lets walk all over the counters, table, etc. Good grief! Yours must be very well trained. The Siamese are beautiful cats.

    Sorry, I have no idea what might be next. As you know...talk to your Dr. My Sister lived 5 years longer than the Drs. predicted by participating in some studies...she got all the latest and greatest that was available in 1999-2003. There may be some options for you in some of the new and upcoming drugs. I know they are learning new things every day!

    I know that herceptin is a very powerful drug for some people (her2+) that wasn't around five years ago. I wish I could come up with better advice. Maybe you want to talk to a different doctor also to get a wide range of information.
    I wish you the best and hope that you will enjoy coming in here for support and sharing.
    BTW, I used to have a cat, but my husband bonded with the cat and I never get any more lap time (from the cat, that is!). love, Joyce

    Hi Loni,

    Glad you found us! I too am sorry that you have to battle nasty cancer yet again. I am a three time survivor myself, my last battle with cancer was in 2007. Keep us posted and know that you are not alone, we are here for you!

    Your kitty reminded me of two siamese cats my grandma had when I was a little girl, Tinker and Topper. Topper loved me and I could always hardly wait to see him, Tinker on the other hand was a bit snobbish. :-) I have a black kitty and a calico, named Honey and Stinky. I also have a dog named Grrr. The neighbors often laugh when I go outside and holler for them "GRRRR, Stinky, Honey. I didn't realize how silly it sounds till one of them told me.

    So sorry to hear of your new
    So sorry to hear of your new cancer diagnosis. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to hear this news. Read as much as you can and talk to everyone you know about what you are going through. With this type of cancer, there are new things happening daily, keep up the hope and get as much information as you can about your diagnosis.

    I love them!
    The cats that is. Do they all pile up on top of you at night? Animals can be such a comfort. My own two got me through diagnosis and are now helping me through chemo. Hope you're doing OK, Loni.

    We are lucky to find room for ourselfs !
    You have to be fast around here, and sometimes trick them to get your own spot!
    i am doing better for now!
    Thursday March 12th I hear from my doctor again about what can be done and a plan, I'm hoping!
    We lost one of our kitties two days ago, but she returned home finally.
    We are keeping our fingers crossed for some good news!

    I can't afford any more chemotheropy.
    It's do more chemotheropy and end up living on the streets, or live out my days at home.
    I'm at a loss, and don't know what to do.

    Loni, I'd love to be wrong, but it sounds like you got some bad news. Surely there is a social worker associated with the hospital you go to, who could help you find options if chemotherapy is necessary. In any event we will be thinking of you and praying for you.

    Loni, if you're told you need to do more chemo find out which ones and check the manufacturers for their compassion program. I was looking at a pfizer site for something unrelated and noticed they have a program of some sorts for those who can't pay for their meds. I can't say for sure but I'm positive most of the companies have something like that. Now whether chemo is included, I don't know, but it's worth checking into.

    There was another thread not long ago from someone who couldn't cover their tx and lots of really good suggestions were posted. This is the address: http://csn.cancer.org/node/166320

    I know it's hard doing all this investigative work while worrying about your condition. Maybe you have a relative or friend that can help.

    New meds!
    On my last doctors appointment, I was discussing the medications that he wanted me to take, and that there was no way I could afford them. One of them pills costing over $1,200 a pill. Just outside of the room I was in, was the vendor for that very pill had overheard our conversation. She got on the phone right then to see what she could do for me. By the time I got home from the doctors and walked in the front door the phone rang, it was her with good news. She was able to get the pills for me for only $200.00 for all of them! I have 56 of them to start with, that will cover the first of three rounds. She had the pills delivered to my home, and they were there the very next day by special delivery! This may save my life!
    I have to have chemotheropy again also every three weeks, and then have a catscan to see how things are progressing. I now may still beat this cancer spot on my liver. Thank God for that lady Victoria!
