What I consider a Miracle

As you all know my Mom (77 yo) suffered intestinal blockage of her small bowel. The Dr. told me when we got to the ER that there were many blockages not just one, which made her case almost impossible. She had a nasogastrointestinal tube inserted to see if the small bowel could open up so that gas and fecal matter could go through. After giving her one chemo (carboplat)and having a horrible reaction, lots of vomit, etc..there was only a 20 to 30% improvement. Then a few days later (still in the hospital)she got a lot worse and was even vomiting fecal matter. This was shocking to me and so sad and depressing to see her suffering. I was so made not able to do anything. The Dr. told me, I`m sorry but she`s not getting any better and she may have maybe 2 to 3 weeks more in the same and even worse conditions. No more chemo could be given like that. So I told him.. you know what.. I`m talking her home.. beacause I know she would rather be there if itñs her last days. The most difficult and sad thing for me was the SHE DOES NOT KNOW..she thinks this problem itnñe related to her cancer.. the Dr. told me to keep like this because al termial patients must be offered some hope. And you know what...I`m glad I did because after 18 days in the hopital I took her home and stayed with her 10 days with my baby girl there.. and surprisingly she started to get better. The pain went away, pain meds were suspended. She started to get unbloated, she started to have gas, and started to pope. The Dr. could not believe this. He said the only chemo might have had a 3 to 4 week reaction. The tube was disconnected last Friday (after a month) and removed this past Tuesday. She started drinking liquidas and today started with pures. I am so grateful with God. Although this is a small battle won, I have been told that these are the last chemos she can get.. so I know this is the end. How long, I don´t know. And although Im so happy I have more time and that she is feeling better. I now working what will come next.. will this happen again or something worse. I`m afraid of Gods plans. Please have us in your prayers.

    Isaiah 12:2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation."

    Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

    and another

    "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

    Liz:

    What a blessing you are to your Mom. I was also able to be with my Mom at her home in those last months, for which I am very grateful. She was with family, in her own environment, which made a big difference in her comfort.

    Bonnie has offered many wonderful scriptures that ensure us that we are not alone. And I'm sure you realize that all of us here are thinking of you and your Mom and praying for you. I hope that brings you comfort.

    I've also found much comfort for many situations in Psalm 91. It is there that we are told that God has given His angels charge over us. And even more, that He will raise us up and hold us 'in the palm of His hand'.

    In His Love,
    Monika

    You're a Blessing
    I am happy she is not suffering like she was and that you were there for her. God's plans are not to be feared. Although I think we all have some fear. Your mom is so lucky to have you.
    Prayers and Hugs to all

    I agree
    You are such a great daughter. I do encourage you to take care of your health and get needed rest with the new baby. We don't want you to get sick. The other ladies have said it all and I join them. This is really good news about your mother. God Bless you... Saundra

    God's Plans are good
    Do not dread God's plans. He is so loving and concerned about everything we do and is done to us. You are in great hands! His! Just remember to Thank Him for his work and keep Him in your mind, then you will not have any room for worry or fear! Fear is not from God. Love you and keep looking up!

    How wonderful you can be with your mom at home. And that she can be more like herself now. God's timing is perfect and not always ours ... but aren't you glad He is in control?

    I really like this poem:

    If we could see beyond today
    As God can see:
    If all the clouds should roll away,
    The shadows flee;
    O'er present griefs we would not fret.
    Each sorrow we would soon forget,
    For many joys are waiting yet
    For you and me.
    If we could know beyond today
    As God does know,
    Why dearest treasures pass away
    And tears must flow;
    And why the darkness leads to light,
    Why dreary paths will soon grow bright;
    Some day life's wrongs will be made right,
    Faith tells us so.
    "If we could see, if we could know,"
    We often say,
    But God in love a veil does throw
    Across our way;
    We cannot see what lies before,
    And so we clling to Him the more,
    He leads us till this life is o'er;
    Trust and obey.

    "Have you entered the storehouses....which I reserve for times of trouble?" Job 38:22-23

    I will keep you and your family in prayer.

    Love,
    Libby♥
