1 year checkup
I haven't been on in quite awhile. I had my 6 month checkup in October and everything came back fine, I went today for my 2nd colonoscopy and my Dr told me that where they tied my colon together after my resection is a possible tumor or scar tissue. I am hopeing that it is only scar tissue. Has anyone else ever heard of this before. This time last year i was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, I had 18" of my colon removed and did 6 months of chemo. I dont know if I could go through chemo again if it is cancer again. I am just woundering if anyone has ever heard about the possibilty of scar tissue.
Thanks
Pat

Did he biopsy it?
I haven't heard of the scar tissue thing, but that doesn't mean it is not a huge possibility. What did your latest PET show? My Gi was just telling me the other day that he can usually tell if a mass is cancerous by the color, shape and growth of the tissue. I assume he did a biopsy and now you are in waiting mode, which we all hate.
Hoping and praying for the best for you!0 -

Hi,
My DR.did take a biopsy, and yes I am in the waiting mode. He said that it was about the size of the tip of his thumb and was red in color. I have a pet scan this Friday.

Scar Tissue
Hi Pat,
I had a colonoscopy before my doctor did my ileo reversal and I had scar tissue which my surgeon biopsied at the time(everything came back normal). I also had the dreaded rectal exam a few weeks ago and my doc told me she could feel scar tissue, I asked her if this was normal and she told me that everyone has scar tissue after surgery but, the amount depends on the person. I hope this helps.

scar tissue very possible
I have CERTAINLY heard of scar tissue --especially around the surgery site. This gets mentioned periodically on my scans. It is good that you are having a biopsy and also that you are having a PET scan. The waiting is very hard but I am certainly thinking positively about it. Wishing you all the best

Scar tissue
Hi Pat. Yes, there is a very good possibility it is scar tissue. They have done biopsy every colonoscopy on the same type of area on me, it has always just been scar tissue, not cancerous activity, the scar tissue must keep on thickening over time. Especially since it is where you were put together, as with me too, best scenerio that's all it is.
Best wishes Pam0 -

Hi there,
I am sending positive vibes to you that it is scar tissue. Scar tissue seems to crop up quite often on this discussion board. Waiting is the hardest. My last CT scan, the onc said there was a tiny 2 mm image show up. He thinks it is scar tissue and said he was not worried but to come back in 3 months for another scan just in case. Even still, the waiting can drive you batty. I try to live each day as it comes and remain positive. I wish you well.

HI
I just had another cononoscopy and the dr said there seemed to be irritation at the site of the surgery. Did a biopsy and it was clear. Just irritation which happens from the surgery. I'm sure you'll be fine.
God bless you

I just wanted to
Hi,Everyone
I just wanted to let everyone know that today I got the results from my ct and pet scans and as of right now I am cancer free. What a year this has been, It seems like just yesterday I was going through the worst time of my life and now I am enjoying life again. I can't wait for spring and summer to get here. My wife and 3 of my 5 girls are going to Big Sky Montana in June and it's a vacation I can't wait to go on. The last vacation we went on was last year on this very week. We were getting ready to go to florida with the girls and the day we were leaving is when I found out I had colon cancer stage 3 so that vacation really sucked! Not this time. Anyway thank all of you for the support.
