My MIL was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2005. She is taking another round of chemo now. (not so great news)
However..she had the BRACA 1 & 2 tests. She tested positive in the BRACA2.

My DH and I have two grown daughters we, of course, were very concerned about inheriting the BRACA2 gene.

My DH had his BRACA2 test and we just found out he tested negative!! :)

WE are relieved of course.

My question is...our daughters will not need the BRACA test now that their dad tested negative..correct? Thanks so much for all of the help. :) Blessing to you all. :)

    BRCA
Marcy - Wonderful news for your family. As far as asking about the girls testing - that is a question for your genetic counselor. I tested negative so my sister, brothers and son did not get tested - although, I believe, because you have a family history your risk is still higher then if you didn't have that history.

Let us know what you find out!

    Hugs -

That is good news! Your daughters do not need to test because their father is negative. I tested positive for BRCA2 and so far 1 sister has tested negative and my oldest daughter has tested negative. My youngest and my other two sisters will be tested this summer. We are hoping that it stops with me!
    Congratulations!

Thank you for your "Praise the Lord" :) Our oldest daughter is 35. Her ob/gyn had already said if her daddy tested positive..to be ready for a possible hysterectomy. :(

I'm so happy our daughters, ages 33 & 35, can rest a little easier with us. :)

Thanks to all of you for your congrats. :) God Bless you all.
