Great visualization tool...
I've been making a big effort to incorporate exercise into my life every day. With this, I've rediscovered our Nintendo Wii. The boxing game is great. And, every time I play, I imagine my boxing partner is cancer and I KICK THE CRAP OUT OF IT!
Hugs and Hope,
Elizabeth

I think that is a wonderful idea. And i also heard that that Wii game is a good work out no matter what game it is. But I really like that u are kicking the crap out of the cancer. Could u give i a few hits for me to. Keep up the good work.
God Bless You

My hypnotist (got me over fear of flying and is a great friend now) told me to think of the PacMan game and that all those little dots are cancer cells and every time you eat one of them up its gone. Great analogy. I've got a PacMan game and I think I'm not only going to eat up those little dots but I will get to eat all those dots up before they get me. Yipee - I'm winning and I beat them all. Have fun with the Wii - it is a great tool and exercise program. Kim0 -

to get one. Was going to spend my income tax refund on medical bills, but I have heard so much about this WII, even my onc has one (although more for his kids). My best friend just got one for valentines day. My question is - will it last, or will I play it for a while and then put it next to the playstation 2 which is next to the treadmill collecting dust?0 -

Its $247.00 plus tax.....great for some but there's no sunshine involved....my kids have one (yep we are a typical American family) but they are only allowed on it on the weekends. If you are already a couch potato then get one. It will make ya jump around (it does my kids anyway) but its not sunshine and the good old outdoors either.....Good luck with your decision............:-)0 -

It's too cold here to do want to do anything outside for now, but we do like our outdoor activities as well. I had played the boxing one at a friends house and it was so much fun! People are getting fit with these Wii's and you bet, I'm getting one soon! my kids are excited at the thought of a videogame where they can also get exercise as well.
Has anyone ever tried Rock Band? OMG, it is soooo much fun! I usually play the drums, my 13 year old sings, my 12 or 18 year old will play lead guitar, and my son will play Bass, and I feel like The Partridge Family with this family band, I love it. I don't usually like videogames, but I do like Rock Band and Wii.0 -
That's what happened with me...
We got a Wii last year and I played for a while and the stopped for several months. My husband suggested I use it to get some of my cancer anger out and it works great for that. I'm in New Hampshire and the weather is crappy, so it's a good alternative for me (although, we still have to walk the mutts everyday). I think I've struck a good balance between the Wii and outdoor activity.
It's not for everyone, but it's a fun way to start incorporating exercise into your life if you're not used to it.

If I still lived in Florida, I doubt I would consider it, I was always outside doing something, however, here in Minnesota where winter starts in September and doesn't end until June, it's a consideration. I was just thinking about the Wii at 247.00, then adding in the fit part, and the things that go with it, by the time you are done with just that you've spent 400.00 +, and of course any other games you want to play, it's a small fortune to say the least! My kids don't live here, so it's just me and Nick....
Donna - never played rock band as far as a video, but I do play drums and guitar anyway - fun fun....played rock hero at the bar once, that was fun!0 -

I love my Wii
I got it so the grandsons could play when they are here...but **** and I use it all the time. We are suckers for bowling! And he loves the golf as well. Then my daughter bought me the Wii Fitness unit and I really started to use that before cancer knocked me down. It's sitting there waiting for me to recover enough from surgery to use it. I miss it!

Vicki,
I love the Wii bowling and the tennis. It's so funny to have aching muscles and realize it's from playing video games! Good luck with your recovery. I had my resection December 12th laproscopically and I'm finally getting closer to normal. My energy levels are back up and there's a bounce in my step. Hope you are bowling again soon! Maybe we can compare scores; funny, I'd much rather compare bowling scores than CEA numbers Oh, by the way, I'm an avid quilter, too. When I was doing chemo, I made quilts as a way to keep busy and feel better. My fabric stash is taking over my house!

Oui for Wii
Hi Liz,
We have a Wii (for the kids) but I have been thinking of getting the Wii Fit for myself and my wife. She's great at doing things on her own (weights, stretching, some yoga) but I have motivational problems (see my nausea posts, that's probably why I lack motivation :-) but I have heard good things about Wii Fit.
Until I get one, give "it" a shot from me too

That's one of my favorites. I usually get to into it and end up pulling a muscle in my butt.
Mary, thank you!

Elizabeth,
Maybe we could start a ; Wii bowling league. Then who knows, maybe we could have Wii bowling tournaments against other groups! And maybe I'm getting a little carried away, but it sure is nice to find something fun that's good for you. I'm right there with you on the sore butt, but I usually have a sore arm, too. Keep having fun and thanks for sharing the visualization. I think I'll be doing some Wii bowling tonight.
