cancer, lymphadema and rock climbing

I had 2 lymph nodes removed and the radiation supposedly didn't hit my lymph nodes. Is there anyone out there who is a rock climber who knows how it would be to start climbing again? My arms felt very heavy the other day....first one and then the other....don't know if that is a sign of potential lymphadema.
I finished my radiation tx 9 days ago but have exercised every day throughout the entire treatment.
I just want my 'normal' back!
Thanks!

    Hi Lynn,
    I have posted some

    Hi Lynn,

I have posted some information regarding lymphedema on my page here at CSN under the expressions section of my page. It begins on page 3 and ends on page 4. Hope this is helpful to you.

    My best to you,

    adjustment
I finished radiation in October and also exercised through it. While I'm not a rock climber(you go girl!)I do a circuit training program and yoga. Yoga has been fabulous for me in regaining my arm strenght/range of motion as well as my peace of mind. There are definitely days when I feel the "heaviness" and feel "swollen" but I'm not visibly swollen. The radiation takes more of toll on the body than I realized. My new normal means accepting and adjusting to what my body wants today. As for rock climbing....you climb a mountain everyday through this. Sometimes you just gotta stop and catch your breath!

    I pick Rock Climbing!!!
Rats! I thought you were giving us a multiple choice~ and I picked Rock Climbing!!!

My arm also feels heavy and full, though I do NOT suffer from lymphedema. The amount of nodes I had removed ( 15) has affected my mobility somewhat, but not very noticably.

I predict you absolutely will get your own normal back~ understndably, we are very anxious to have this behind us that we lose patience.

There isn't much that I don't do, and lots of it I never did prior to cancer and surgery. Those who know me may close their eyes now, as I am certain they don't want to read again about how I recently zip-lined, rode the dorsal fin of a dolphin, and entered a ping-pong tournament. I am right handed, and my BC was also on the right side, so just knowing I made the finals against men(!!!) in the tournament let me know that I am even better than normal! And you will be too!

    Hugs,
    Claudia

    How much weight are you
How much weight are you lifting and did you lift weights before the 'C Bomb' got dropped on you? I am doing some yoga. I totally agree that this radiation is making me DANG tired! They told me I would only be tired for a week or 2 beyond my last rad treatment.
    thanks bunches!!!!!!

Hi Lynn, just wanted to let
Hi Lynn, just wanted to let you know it will take a little time. I went back to the gym last month and doing nautilus machines to regain strength. Certain machines I do 20 lbs and others I can do up to 50. You will get your strength back, but I don't think it would be wise to rush it since you then risk getting lymphedema. Hugs, Lili
