How to buzz?

This morning as she was preparing for her second treatment, the Moopster asked me if I would mind buzzing her head when "the time" came. Thanks to all of you Sisters in Pink who have helped her to approach this traumatic experience with her usual sense of humor!

Of course, I said I would be more than willing to help. I have some styling experience: our middle dog Yongy has a very thick coat and needs frequent trims. Yongy's first trim at the doggy salon set us back $30. So we bought a cheap Wahl doggy clipper set and now Yongy's trims are performed free of charge by "Mr. Joseph" while Moopy looks on with Eefy and Anubis (that is, our other two pups).

Problem is, I'm sure not going to buzz Moopsy's head with Yongy's doggy clippers. Somehow I don't think my industrial strength beard trimmer is going to do the job. Frankly, I don't know what to buy that *will* do the job. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You have a beard, I see. Do you trim your beard? If so, use your beard trimmers.

Edited to add- You might want to cut the length a little first.

I used a Wahl clipper but for people. I already had it as I cut my husbands hair. Someday I may not be able to as I have Parkinsons. Unless he wants a pretty wild look.

I also cut my hubby's hair

I also cut my hubby's hair and the dog clippers are pretty much the same and made by the same people. Like any trim, you may need to scissor first to get a managable length but maybe not. I usually use a #2 guard on hubby and thats pretty short but not at the skin.

    Mr Joseph!
Please Don't take Moopy to the Poodle Parlour! She'll never get over it! Don't do it...Please!
On A more serious note, I used my 'Better Halfs' spikey, comb-type clippery bit (don't know the proper name for these male vanity products LOL) then the main shaver part on his Remington. Talcum powder is useful to help with the itching, unless you are allergic, then it's not.

    Good Luck.......J

    Hey Joe!
Your Moopy may be soft as a kitten, but don't know if she will be purrring just because you use the pet trimmer! OK i might have resorted to that...... my hubby says to make sure you clean whatever you use with alcohol (and then drink the rest!!haha (KIDDING) seriously it is best to use a new or cleaned cutter..we used a beard trimmer and then shaved it with an electric shaver. You would not want a cut or nick to become infected.
She will be as beautiful as ever maybe more so as her inner beauty and strength will shine even more. Make sure she takes her zanax or adivan..helped me!
    Wishing you the best

I would refrain from the poodle clippers. LOL. On a serious note, I went out and purchased a new Wahl brand clipper for $20.00 and used that. Then I used my husband's electric shaver to get rid of the stubble. After that my poor head felt relieved since I didn't have that awful ache. Hugs to you and Moopy. Lili

Good Morning Joe and Moopsy, I hope treatments went well yesterday, ya'll were in my prayers. Mine went fine , no sickness, just gittery from steroids and couldn't sleep either, any way I asked my husband the same thing the other day and hurrayyy yesterday was the day. I came home from my treatment and my hair was realllly fallling out quickly, so after he returned from hunting and saw me crying, even though I knew it was coming, He sit me down with his clippers "WAHL" hair clippers that I use on him and our son, to cut their hair. You can purchase one of these at Wal-Mart or any local retail store. He cut mine with scissors to my scalp an then used clippers with no guard then he lathered me up and shaved it. It feels just like a babies butt. "NOT REALLY" but I had no headaches last night and at supper last night our son said "mommy why did daddy cut you bald?" HA HA , he always makes me laugh! I hope I was of some advice. Keep me posted

Ain't kids just great, My son asked me one morning........"Hey Mum, are you going to tuck your hair behind your ears today, or wear it loose?"...Blooming PLANK! I only had a slight fuzz. Oh well it amused him. Good Luck to all here... (Just don't make me wear Pink...Yeuch!) Hugs J XX
