That's the only kind I've ever had. Mine were of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. I also had to drink some nasty crap prior to the test too. When they do the test it will feel like you've wet your pants. I was so sure I did once that I had to check.

They put the IV in. Then they scan you. Then they put the contrast into the IV...which does make you feel like you have to pee (OH MY!). The purpose is to compare the Scans with and without the contrast.

That's the only kind I got too. They said it makes the scans easier to read. I found the pee sensation interesting. They warned me about it too.

They didn't scan me without the contrast tho, just with.

I am having mine done on Thurs. They will scan the chest, abdomen and pelvis. They gave me a bottle of the "Yucky Crap" to drink before the scan and they did mention an IV . Have you had yours done yet? Nancy

I was warned about the 'warm sensation'. I actually laughed and said "MMMMMMM, Can we do that again? That was the best feeling I've had there in a long time!!!". He blushed and stuttered...ROFL!

Tricks of the trade
I have had as many of you a ton of test. I found the trick to the "drink". If you place the tip of your tongue behind the bottom teeth, it hides the taste buds that are really sensitive so the taste isn't that bad. I take the stuff from a straw and put it towards the back of my tongue. I'm having a ERCP test on Thursday where they go down the throat and look into my stomach, around my pancress and then my liver. Apparently clusters of "something" showed up on my scans two weeks ago. It won't be bad because I will be in that "twilight" state. Good luck, Angela

Well, I don't know about anyone else but my pride and modesty went out the window with bc. There's nothing like having hordes of people see you topless to get rid of any lingering pride you have. But I will say that peeing my pants might have sent me right over the edge. Plus, how the hell was I going to get out of the hospital without anyone seeing the big wet spot that I was so sure was there. The icing on the cake was that the tech was really good looking. Peeing my pants in front of the hot guy... yeah, not on my to-do list. Ugh.

Always carry a bottle water and then you can "spill" it....same color.

A secret from my rad center...
There is a POWDER!!!! that, if you bring your own juice, you can take THAT....

I was whinning about BANANA being the only flavor (Berry is better) they had...that is when they shared the powder...usually, it's used for kids that can't take down the thick stuff...
