Hey everyone,
Its been a few weeks for me to come around. I was the one waiting for a colonoscopy,Family history of colon problems,Anemic preparing for a complete hyster-Turned out colon was diverticulosis,Completely under control with diet. So I go in for my surgery for the Muscle tumor on the 21st- No bad thoughts thinking it will be ugly but no concern. Doc and his nurse put a rush on biopsey-Both were sure it was cancer-Yet one more bullet dodged again and all came out negative. But discovered a new thing after surgery. New here to florida-It is a lanacane cathater pump that is put in during sugery and pumps a steady pump of numbing med in the site. This was surgery number 7 on my belly-Pain was miniumum and I had surgery on the 21st at 1pm came home friday at 10 am feelimg great. They of course took the cathater out before I left and like novacain withen 6 hours the pain returned full force. I sent a letter to my Doctor cause I did not want to wait 2 weeks to discuss it with him. So anyone having surgery Ask about the Lanacaine pump and if so let them let you take it home. The pain level between having it going my level was a 2-4 after the numbness left it reached 8-9 level. I went from no pain med as of thursday am to taking 4 pills friday night to help alleve the pain.So I guess I am becoming a advocate for this new medical thing. But anyone going in for surgery ask-Such easier movement and so much less pain.

Thanks
Thanks so much for the information. My husband is going to have three possible surgeries...one to remove the upper portion of his right lung and then another to stop the blood flow to the right lobe of the liver and then eventually liver resection. I will ask the doctor able this ...this is wonderful and helpful information. Thanks for sharing. Good luck and May God bless you.

Kaiser calls it a Q-pump
I had something similar after my surgery. It's only 3-days worth of drugs but well worth it! I was able to sit in a chair less than 24-hours post surgery and walking down the halls 36 hrs later. Mine fell out with less than 24-hrs of meds left. Bummer! For me, the pain was not too bad. I did hold my tummy when I walked after that and no one can say I walked very fast.
Anyway, it's a great advance in pain management in my mind. It kept me off of Morphine, which I hate because of the fuzziness. Traci0
