back from surgery
I had my rectum surgery 01/12 and come home Saturday 01/17. My surgeon told me that I lost a lot of blood, about 3.5 liter, during the surgery. He is surprised that I recovered very fast. He is able to keep my anus but most likely I will keep my ostomy permanently. I am OK with that. I find the ostomy very user-friendly. The information from this board has helped me a lot in preparing for the surgery and the ostomy.
Surgery is the first step of my 2nd phase of treatments. In a couple weeks I will start the testing for SIR-Sphere procedure of my liver mets. I will keep you posted about the progress. Meanwhile I am going back to the juicing and exercise routine. Hope to regain the energy and strength.
Thanks.

Wow
Hi Peter,
I definitely commend you on your upbeat attitude regarding that you'll likely keep the ostomy permanently. I don't know that I could be so upbeat about it, honestly. I have, however, had other people tell me that they couldn't be so upbeat with some of the other stuff I've gone through, so I guess we all do what we have to do. Being upbeat can make the whole experience so much more bearable. Keep plugging on and best wishes with the SIR spheres in the liver! Keep us posted-
Take care and God bless,

Thanks Peter
Thanks for posting...my surgery is Feb 4 and I am getting nervous. I, too, am looking at an ostomy, but I am more worried about the surgery itself. It sounds like you are strong and positive, so I'll take a page from your book and just concentrate on getting home quickly (they tell me I'll be there 5-7 days).
Bless you....Vicki0 -
