Hi I just had my first Taxotere treatment last Wednesday, and yesterday and today I have barely been able to stand up. Is that typical? I had 6 months of CMF 7 years ago and never missed a day of work. My doctor said it would "kick me in my butt", but I never thought it would bring me this far down!

Hi! I am on the combination of Taxotere, carboplatin, and Herceptin. If you go to chemorders.com you can get all the info about any drug. Muscle/bone/joint pain is listed as a side effect in 10-29 percent, if this is the reason for not being able to stand up....but more common in 30% is fluid retention with weight gain swelling of abdomen (i didn't need that!!) fatigue and weakness, neuropathy, nausea, diarrhea, mouth sores, hair loss and infection and nail changes.
I'm not sure if your symptom is typical but don't be afraid to ask your onc.
So sorry you are down dear. Don't know if i helped but hope so.

    God bless,
    Jackie

    Might be the dose level...
Keep your oncologist updated...mine had to cancel my last of 4 Adriamycin/Cytoxin because my heart was giving me trouble...

You may lose body hair. Taxol was my last 4, and until that point, my eyebrows and lashes had hung on, even tho I had lost all of my head hair. I lost both after the first infusion...

    Hugs, Kathi

I had Taxotere/Cytoxan with some problems, but none like you described. Remember that we all react differently to medicine. I would consult with the doctor to make sure they know about your problem and find out what to do. They're there to help you...don't be afraid to ask.

I had the terrible bone pains, mainly knees and ankles. The good news is: it was awful first time, not so bad 2nd and barely noticeable on the last one. Good luck Julia

    Hi Fran, Taxotere kicked me
Hi Fran, Taxotere kicked me in the butt. I had the most agonizing bone pain I've ever had. Almost went to emergency. It seemed to lessen with the next 2 doses. I had to use morphine for the pain. And my mouth felt like it was on fire. I ended up with neuropathy for quite some time afterward which seems to be going away. BUT my hair started coming back when I started it. Good luck to you.
