Hello:

If you do not mind me asking, what treatment are you on right now. My dad is on xeolda, avastin, and oxiplatin and are you post surgery or just maintenance. I am just curious if your ascites subsidded while on treatment and at what state of disease. My dad has mets in liver and lungs and maybe something in his abdomen (not totally confirmed).

Thanks,

Jennifer

I have been taking Vectibix since May 6, 2008 bi-weekly with a shot of anti nausea each time. My ascites began with Xeloda in Oct 2007 and I had four stomach pumps from Nov through April 2008. I stopped all chemo from late March to May 2008 and just took two diruetics twice a day since without any more stomach pumps or problems with fluids. I do have a rash that comes and goes with Vectibix otherwise doing okay now.

    Just started Vectibix
Hi I just read your note...wow...seems Vectibix is working well for you!! I just started today and was wondering.
1.Do you take any anti nausea meds for 2-3 days after the treatment?
2.Have you noticed any other side effects, fatigue etc?
3.Did you take the Kras test?
Any info would be appreciated:) Pray you'll continue to do well!

    Hello:

The diruetics worked for my dad too. He lost 15 pounds of fluid in 10 days so doctor told him to go down to one a day (he was taking two). But my dad decided to play doctor like he has done in the past and stopped taking them all togehter. After about 2 weeks, the fluid started to come back. Now, he is taking them again. His doctors said it was a good sign that the diruetics took care of the fluid so quickly. Did your doctor tell you anything about ascites? Our doctor has not really said alot. How long will you have to take diruetics? Can the chemo ever get things back in check so that diruetics are not necessary? Just curious. Thanks for sharing.

    Vectibix
No KRAS test, my doc says it still may help and has been effective since May 2008
No nausea drugs other than the one with the dose of Vectibix and no problems with any stomach upset
Rash has occurred three times each more extensive and painful but tolerable with Tylenol and subsides in five weeks of Elidel lotion with antibiotics
I have recovered my weight and physical strength but it took me from May to October to completely resume gym weight lifting and swimming, I lift every other day for three of seven days, swim 1000 meters (40 laps) six days of seven and take one day off each week

    diruretics
I have taken them since last April 2008 and have no plans to stop, but watch the potassium number as it has gone too high once or twice requiring a smaller dose of diruretic. My exercise routine has helped with fluid too, increases the metabolism I believe
