    Shaving head
Well I know you are all going to think I am crazy but after my kids and husband shaved my head, I too had the stubble going on. Quite frankly it hurt to even have hair so I found one more purpose for duct tape. Yes, I said good old duct tape. My husband, being the invent guy he is, thought it might work. Well it did. We began by putting a strip of duct tape on my stubble and gently pulling it off. Low and behold the stubble came out on the tape. It didn't hurt, in fact it felt good. Try it. You might be plesantly surprised. Good luck...

    Another use for Duct tape
Another use for Duct tape LOL. That's almost like getting waxed. Hugs, Lili

    DUCT TAPE!!!
    I love it! LOL LOL

    No hair!
Great advice on head shaving/clipping. I went to a well-known wig place on Saturday and had them buzz cut my hair and fit me for a brand new wig. I will post the picture here in a few minutes. Man, those human hair wigs are expensive! My god, when I got home I had nightmares of my cats getting to it and using it as a claw sharpener.

I haven't taken the stubble off yet. It doesn't hurt or anything. But I will remember the duct tape when I do! LOL! As for facial hair, my oncologist didn't think my eyebrows or eyelashes would fall out b/c they are so dark and thick, but you never know. However, the little hairs above my lip are thinning and I couldn't be happier. Thanks also for the tip about the "looking good, feeling good" class. I will definitely check that out.

    No Hair ...
Mimi, I have very thick eyebrows ... They didn't fall out, but they are a little thinner. I haven't enjoyed my wig, I wear it once in a while, and my cats completely ignore the wig. My stubble just fell out on my pillow at night, or as I rubbed my head trying to think!

Positive note ... you save on hair products, shaving creams and bikini waxes!

Get up every morning and put on your makeup and favorite earrings. That's what I did.

You are a lovely young woman, and a survivor!

I expect my eyebrows to thin a bit as well. Glad to hear that the stubble just fell out without any pain or trouble. I hope mine does as well. Yes, I am looking forward to not having to shave, wax, bleach, and pluck (yes, I did all of these!).

I still don't really wear make-up because I don't feel great about myself right now, but I can see how it would help. I like the idea behind that: embrace life. I had kind of given up on "looking good" during treatment. But why not? Why shouldn't we all enjoy life and ourselves even while going through a very challenging time? Thanks for the reminder.

    Wishing you the best
In the beginning of this I felt very scared, angry and terrible about myself. Traumatized in many ways. The mastectomy now seems to have been the easy part and a vague memory. The 8 weeks of A/C was tough. There were days I didn't get out of bed. Even with my husband's support, at times I have felt very isolated and alone in this battle. Now I'm on Taxol with 2 chemos left and have suddenly realized that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

I do still have 6 weeks (5 days a week) of radiation ahead of me, and reconstruction ... But the end is in sight!

This is a long journey. Do what you need to do to make yourself feel better. And remember that you are in my prayers, and the prayers of many others.

By golly ... If I can get through this, so can you! HUGGS!

    My hair is coming out
I didn't think I would be emotional about it, because I knew it would happen. It started coming out in the shower last night and this morning there was a lot on my pillow. It is right on time: 2 weeks to the day of my first treatment. So, I started crying and crying about it -- not just the hair, but the fact that I wake up every morning thinking about cancer now. That this is my life now. It really got to me, I guess. I am headed to a wig shop this morning....

Good luck to everyone going through this particular part of the journey right now.

    my real name is jackie
my story sounds alot like yours and would like to hear about your wig search. I have ordered one from a web-site called chemo savvy and they have cute turbans, scarves and other accesories.. I have maybe a week until mine starts to go. Hope my order is here on time. Sometimes we need to cry and sometimes we can't stop, I never know what will set me off. but I try to do things to make myself happy or at least busy when this feeling comes around

My prayers go out to all Good luck and God bless.

    Thank you
Thanks to all who responded about my hair dilemma. I felt bad and cried for a few hours and then I got over it. Jackie, to respond to you question, I got a list of wig places from my oncologist. I also have a friend whose hair was coming out for a non-cancer related disease and she recommended a place. My surgeon (who had breast cancer 20 years ago), also recommended a place. All three recommended the same place, and that's where I went. I think in these situations it really helps to get recommendations from people who've been there. My wig is human hair and it was custom fit for my head and then cut a bit to fit my face. They can also highlight it or color it if you want. I will be taking it in every month to have it washed and re-styled. I know some people don't want to go through this fuss, and I understand that, but I really love my wig. I also found that it really helps to put a covering on under the wig (this should be provided with the wig) to help eliminate itching. Anyway, I hope this helps.
