New Lumps.........weekend....scared

Hi, I had st4 bc spead to sentinal and other nodes, dx last October surgery 18th dec...lumpectomy, chemo and rads. Now I have amazing pain in my ribs just below the site. There are at least 3 lumps there ... I have only just dared to examine this area.........I know you are not doctors, But has anyone else had this?...It hurts like all hell..Thank you Julia

    I had stage 4 with a very large cancerous limp node to my chest in 99, after a year of treatment it was stifled and has not returned to that site. My suggestion to you would be to call your doctor on Monday and schedule an apt. to have the doctor run the approcpreate tests, x-rays, MRI, or perhaps a PET scan. Personally I would not wait on this as I consider any lump to be suspicious.

    I too would call my doctor as soon as possible.

    But, having said that, I've known a few cases of women having "lumps" and they turn out to be scar tissue, fluid, or fat deposits---so basically nothing.

    Of course, until you see the Dr. it'll be on your mind. They could be painful because they're pressing on healing tissue, or nerves.

    Call your doctor on Monday, bright and early. They are very used to us calling to find things out...

    I have had on and off pain in the ribcage for the five years post surgery~ it always scares me, but it has never been "anything". I have not felt any lumps, so of course I am with your sisters who say Call Your Doctor, just as YOU would be telling us to do if any of us had posted this inquiry.

    Get back to us...you are not alone on any part of this journey and we stand with you~

    Called my MD first thing monday morning, He bogging off to play golf for 3 weeks in S.A. I can't get an appointment until Mid Jan. So I asked him to refer me to someone who COULD see me over this Festive Season....He said he would, Just waiting and seeing (and worrying) now. Thank you all for your help and support. (and the nice things you say) It has been invaluable to me. Thanks and Hugs Julia X

    And when they don't call back (I don't always have a lot of faith in the staff), call and be the squeeky wheel!
    They might be very busy this time of year, but holiday parties don't quite have the same urgency as a worried patient.

    You called Mon morning. This is Tuesday afternoon. Call again.....
    If they can't refer you to someone else, I would pick another doctor and try to schedule an appointment asap. Surely your doctor did not leave the country without leaving someone else in charge of his patients. Try not to worry.

    I cannot get to see my GP until mid jan so I politely asked for a referal to my surgeon............They did it! Feb 8th 2009. Buggerrr. What do you do eh? Blimey, I'm starting to sound like a Canadian mow 'EH?... I am going to forget about this until after christmas. Today is the anniversary of losing half a breast, I can't celebrate Thanks all

    I am 11 years survivor of stage 3 with 11 out of 21 positive nodes BC. I have to say that if you lumpectomy there is some scaring that occurs and also there is some pain that goes with that it seems. I had one breast removed at a time and then have had various things I would call lumps but the doctors find nothing.
    It has been a long road back but back I did make it and continue to try to live one day at a time.
