at my treatment center. I went, and was reminded as I walked thru the doors the first time I walked thru these doors, 4 years ago. I was hurting, and scared, and my head was spinning!

THIS time, I found so many familiar faces, all covered with joy at seeing me 'looking so healthy'. I managed to find all of my special 'team' and say, with a lump in my throat, how grateful I was for each and every one of them. As I was leaving, I felt like throwing my cap in the air, just like at graduation....

I wish this for each and every one of you here...Never, never, never give up!

Hugs, Kathi

    Awwwwww!!!!
Home is where your heart is...and that means you are home most anywhere; with or without a "sparklie shoe". Have a grand trip, I am certain you will savor all of the good, and knowing you, find the beauty in the bittersweet moments as well.

    That was a beautiful post,
That was a beautiful post, Kathi. I had a similar moment when I was doing my herceptin treatments last time in the chemo room. I sat next to someone at the beginning of treatment and here I was out the other end, with my hair back, with a busy schedule of work and friends to return to, and working the chemo room like a pro (Know all the nurses and who does good IV's, I can unplug my tree in a flash to get to the goodie table). I realized, Dang, I did it.
That is not a very profound story. It just was a profound moment for me. We can't plan out when we will get those revelations, but at some point they come, like rain from heaven.
So glad that your spirit is finding profound beauty. love, Joyce

    Goodie Table???
I was thinking the very same thing! Goodie Table? I didn't even have The Camadarie of Chemo- Companions~ all had small private rooms for the infusions. My sweet niece ( and of course, my Reggie) accompanied me to every session, but they had to either stand or take turns sharing a drs office chair; only room for me, my tree, and that recliner! Oh well~ the rads center was nicer! Popcorn on Fridays, a beautiful tropical fish aquarium, and a huge kazillion piece jig- saw puzzle anyone could add to while waiting. And lots of magazines, too! :-)

    Well, dang...who knew I was
Well, dang...who knew I was getting spoiled at chemo. The chemo room at Kaiser is a great place. By the front door is a table with food that different people bring in, cupcakes, cookies, candy, doughnuts have been there. There are about 15 chairs and the nurses are all in the room too. Kind of a hub bub. They decorated for breast cancer awareness month with pink streamers. There are volunteers that bring you coffee, soda, tea or crackers. There are lots of shallow magazines. Most of the nurses are the same, and remember you from last time with cheer.
I actually have to go on Dec. 24 for herceptin. As I am Jewish, it does not cramp my Christmas eve. I am kind of looking forward to being part of the Christmas spirit there.
All of this is not to diminish that one day, about a year ago, I found myself there for the first time and felt like I was in a portal of hell. What a long strange trip its been...
