I had a TAH on November 3,2008 for Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. I had an IP port inserted three weeks later and started chemo treatments on December 9th and 10th. I received IV taxol over a period of 24 hours on the 9th and IP cisplatin on the 10th. I was supposed to go outpatient on the 16th for IP taxol but my doctor cancelled that one because of some side effects that I experienced after the treatment. I'm scheduled for 6 treatments: Day 1 and 2 inpatient, Day 8 outpatient every three weeks.

I'm so glad to have found this site. I have been struggling with depression and anxiety. Thanks.

    Dear Vivian, Welcome to the site no wishes anyone needs to find but so glad it is here for us. I am glad you found it too and as you will discover, you will get lots of hope, love, encouragement here from everyone. Sounds like you have already been through so much but have a ways to go.     Thanks, Bonnie. This site has made a big difference for me today. My doctor says I need to avoid crowds while undergoing treatment. I really miss going to church, the stores etc. Do I need to be a shut in? It's driving me crazy. Prayers back at you, Bonnie. Viv

    Hi Vivian,
    First let me say welcome, and sorry we have to meet under these curcumstances. I am 57,had my surgery Feb.29,2008 and was diagnosed with stage 3C OVCA. I am still in treatment I've had 8 rounds of carbo/taxol and now on to my 4 th treatment of doxil. I know this is hard to handle, but you'll make it through,being positive and having a good attitude means everything.I pray alot for strength to make it another day, and for all of us affected by this disease.It's good to avoid crowds so you don't get sick. I still go out, just make sure you wash your hands whenever you come back from being out somewhere. I keep a hand sanitizer in my car.
    You will have alot of OVCA sisters who will pray for you.Good Luck!

    So sorry to meet this way, but so glad you have found us! I had Stage 1C in 2000, and again in 2006. Carbo/Taxol both times. But the second session during my recurrance gave me an allergic reaction to Taxol. So it was switched to Taxotere. Wonder if that would help you.

    Well, it sounds like you have a good handle on things. This certainly is not an easy road to take, but you have lots of wonderful women here with superb advice, tips, hugs and prayers to get you through and walk with you along the way. I hope you that you are able to enjoy this Christmas Season, and that you find Hope and Strength to look to the New Year with Joy and Promise for better days.

    Hi Vivian,

    Welcome to our group. I hope we'll be able to help you however we can!

    Your doctors are concerned about you catching some horrible like the flu if you go out into crowds because your immune system is suppressed by the chemo. It's good advice that I hope you'll take. I'm sure you'd be able to avoid real crowds at church if you try.

    It's all right for you to tell your doctor about your anxiety and depression. I think most of the women on this board have experienced it, and it is a concern for your doctor to know about.

    Hi and welcome to the forum. I hope we will be able to help you and in return you'll be able to help others. This is all very new for you and can be very overwehlming. I sometimes felt like I was on auto pilot back when I was first dx. I'm a stage 3c,diagnosed in Nov 2004 and curently am having my 3rd recurrence. There is hope with this disease,even if it turns out that you don't beat it you can control it as a chronic disease like diabetes. It is really important for you to stay upbeat (or as much as you can). I know you'll grow to love the ladies on here. (((hugz))) and welcome~~~Joanne

    Can't tell you how very much this site helped me with all my questions and the spiritual support is grand.
    I was diagnosed March 2, 2007 and now am on a chemo break from lots of chemo. I am Stage IV.
    I check in most every day. By the time I finished my chemo (I had 9 doses of carbo/taxol by port in my shoulder) I was at NED (No evidence of disease) by physical, CA125 and CT scan. That is what you want to shoot for and keep as long as possible. Experienced ladies helped me with side effects of the chemo and any other questions I had, so ask away.
