Whoopee!
Hi Saundra,
What a nice Christmas surprise!! Good to see that your Ca-125 is going back down. I'm just had my 3rd treatment of Doxil. My Ca-125 went down from 57 to 40.I have 3 treatments left. This Doxil rash is awful. I have big sores underneath my breast. So far my hands and feet are okay just everywhere else is bad. God does do miracles. Good Luck. You are always in my prayers along with our other OVCA sisters. Have a nice Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year!

Thank you, Terry. I hope that your next three treatments go easier for you. I have heard Doxil is not much fun but have not had any of that yet. Only carbo and taxol. I am so relieved and blessed to have the Femara work for awhile because I needed a chemo break after 20 months. I will pray that your CA125 will drop rapidly and you can have a break also. After 3 months off, I am feeling so much better.
Merry Christmas to you and have a Happy Healthy New Year too. 2009 is ours!!! Saundra0 -

Good thing!
Nice to hear that the Femara has had such a good effect for you!
I saw my oncologist on the 11th, and had a blood draw before the appt. My CA-125 was 85, higher than the 78 is was last month, but still good news in their eyes, and they didn't say I should have another CT scan right away, so I am happy.
Let's all have a peaceful Christmas, and keep the stress (and CA-125s) low!0 -

Congratulations, Saundra!
Although I don't have Ovarian Cancer, I do silently follow your Discussion Board, as my cancer is so similar. You have been so sweet to me, Saundra, and I can't resist adding my congratulations to you, along with your OVC Sisters. What a blessing to be able to enjoy the holidays without chemo! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!
During my every-3-weeks pre-chemo oncologist consultation, we were discussing how similar my treatment is to the treatment for ovarian cancer (6 rounds of Taxol/carboplatinum; 25 external pelvic rads and internal brachy rads), and I asked my doctor straight out if my cancer (Uterine Papillary Serous Carcinoma, stage IIIc) had a better prognosis statistically than ovarian cancer. He took a deep breath, looked me Square in the eye, and said "NO. The prognosis for UPSC is no better than for ovarian cancer at the same stage." He was quick to follow that with "But your PERSONAL prognosis is very good!" Still, my '1st cousin' status to you OVC Sisters was confirmed, and justifies the kinship I feel to you all. My CA-125 dropped from 96.5 to 47 following my 1st round of chemo, and although CA-125 has been a fairly unreliable indicator for me (going up and down radically), I am happy to completely believe in GOOD NEWS of any kind. I had my 3rd round of chemo December 29th, so should also be in a good place in my treaments on Christmas. I wish everyone a peaceful and blessed Christmas DAY. We know, as so many can't, how precious these special times truly are.0 -

Hi Linda,
I just joined this cite.. I read your post and I noticed that you have the exact same type of uterine cancer as my mother. I have been wanting to get in touch with someone who is going thru the same thing. My mother also went thru and had that taxol/carboplatinum chemo. Then she had 30 or 35 whole abdominal radiation treatments followed by 4 brachytherapy treatments. I took her to most of her treatments. She is doing well now. She goes for another check up in Feb.
I hate to ask your age but I'm curious of your story. My mom is 62. She was diagnosed in March of last year.
Thanks, Kris Ann0 -
To woman whose mother has UPSC, and also my OVC sisters
(I hope this post lands under the one from the woman whose mother is a USPC survivor. Sometimes the posts drop to the bottom of the whole thread, and she may never see this. Don't know what I do wrong.)
I am 55. Are you saying your mother has UPSC?? If so, PLEASE also post a message on the the thread we have started on Uterine Papillary Serous Carconoma. Just go to the Discussion Board link on the left-hand bar, and once you click on that, click on the Discussion Board entitled "Gynecologic Cancers Other Than Overian" and you'll find our thread about "Uterine Papillary Serous Carcinoma. There are 5 UPSC survisors posting there, and you'll want to add your message to Page 2, so that everyone can welcome you. We are up to something like 300 posts on UPSC, so our thread should be a real resource for you regarding your mother's prognosis. I'm so glad that you found me here. UPSC and ovarian cancer are very close cousins and we share the same chemos and similar life expectancies and challenges, and the OVC sisters are such kind lovely brave ladies that I also come here for their insights, knowledge and emotional support.
I was gonna pop in here today to cry on the broad shoulders on my OVC cousins, anyway. I was denied my chemo today because my hemoglobin and platelets were too low. I only have 3 of my 6 rounds in, and none of my radiation yet,..not enough, (although my CT-scan on Friday was NED, and today's CA-125 dropped to 26.2, well within normal range.) But it's scary to have to wait a week for treatment in the hopes that my body will be stronger in a week. What if it isn't? What if a transfusion doesn't get me there either? ARGH! My oncologist has said that although the prognosis for my Stage IIIc UPSC isn't good, that he feels MY prognosis is good because I have no concurrent conditions and am in such great physical shape. And yet already my body is letting me down and preventing my treatments. I can't tox this early in the game, if I am to have any real hope of getting out of this clean. The oncologist mentioned a platelet builder and red-count builder that could possibly be added to my next chemo cocktail, but I was too upset to retain the names of the drugs. Would anyone here have any guesses what drugs help build platelets and hemoglobin, so that I could do some research into the side effects before Monday? I phoned my oncology nurse and she said she'd call me back if she was able to get the names from my chemo onc. Thanks!0 -
