Count me in
That sounds great to me. I live in Coolidge, its about an hour out of Phoenix, but I dont mind the drive, providing its not on a chemo day. I wont know when I will start chemo or how often until I see my ONC on the 12th, will keep everyone updated. I am excited!

Great to hear. Mike49 says he will also attend. He lives in Gilbert. Hope we can get some others in on it. If you know others, encourage them to get in on it.0 -

I am too far away (north of Denver!) but I will be with you in Spirit! When the weather breaks next Spring, and we are all on our feet, everyone's invited up here!

I could enjoy some cool Colorado air when it's cranked up here in the desert. What town or city do you live in? Maybe we'll just have to expand our get together here if it's successful and have a regional hang out time.0 -

I am in Fort Lupton, a small town about 25 miles due north of Denver. We'd love to have you all come on up (after the Holidays, of course!)

Would enjoy sharing a cup of coffee with you, but you'll just have to wait until the snow is gone. I used to live in Hays, KS a long time ago and taught journalism at the state university there while I got my MS. We used to blast off for Denver whenever we could in the winter to go skiing. But now, I think I'll wait until spring. I do get up to Denver now and then. Next time I go, I'll drop you a note.0 -
Funny you should mention 'dutch'....
I'm only a state away...California.
BUT, on New Year I will be in Holland. It is tradition there to light fireworks at midnight to scare off all the old year's bad spirits...
I will DEFINATELY be lighting a few for you all!!!
Have a GREAT get-together...
Hugs, Kathi0 -

We're not meeting on New Year's, but sometime afterwards. And you'd be most welcome, but I didn't think you'd want to drive all that way just for a dinner meeting. Holland? You seem to be quite the world traveler. Turkey, now Holland. My daughter is a gung-ho traveler. France, Peru and China. She also writes a travel column for the Arizona Republic called Compass Points. It's a Q and A kind of format.
Holland sounds like fun, please do all you can to blow away the cancer bad spirits that have ruined so many lives. I like that.0 -
Health Care Community Discussion
I have been tracking the Presidential Transition online at Change.gov, and I received a communication soliciting Health Care Community Discussions to help inform the Next Presidents HealthCare Policy on issues from the perspective of citizens. I was thinking it would be interesting to discuss as an "Arizona Community of Semi-Colons and their significant others". I have been deeply interested in health policy for years but now when I read on these discussion boards of the people who are experiencing real challenges it hits home.
If we feel this would be a good ice breaker, I will get the discussion kit from the transition team and we can make sure the voice of cancer survivors and the significant people supporting us gets heard. If it doesn't strike a cord as something interesting to the group, don't worry, its just an idea. We can keep it social.

I just noticed that these discussions have to be completed by Dec. 31, 2008. It may make it tough to get it done.0 -

Do you have a scanner where you could scan it and send it out in an email? If that would be to much trouble then I am guessing we will have to pass. It does sound like a great way to have a voice though. Whatever you decide, just let me know. My email is DOROOKIE2003@yahoo.com, feel free to write me there anytime!

Any reason we can't discuss it here and consider it done?

I like the idea of a virtual discussiondorookie said:Good Point
We could just post some of the questions and we could respond here, What do you think?
Let me get the package mailed to me and I will post them. Once I receive it I will see what I can do. I am glad to see the interest.0 -

Here is the online link to the participants guide

It contains all the questions. I thought that one way to do this would be to start a discussion string for each question. That way we stay on track to capture the discussion point by point. If it is OK with those commenting I will work on this later today and towards the weekend. I am registered as the moderator so I'll take responsibility for recording transmitting to the transition team our responses.
Since we have access to the questions we can start to pencil in our thoughts before the question appears as a string on the discussion group.
Sounds exciting

OK, let's give this Az. meeting a name!
We should name this small get-together, class it up a bit. Think of some fun, clever or descriptive name for it. I'll start it off with
Cactus Cancer Conference or
Grand Canyon State Colon Cancer Confab or
Your Turn! Give it a shot!
Mary Christmas and to all a good night!0
