About Hair`
My son, who is developmentally disabled, came down from Minnesota for the Thanksgiving holiday. I was very worried because my hair is very short still and did not know how he would feel about me going wigless while he was here.
Well my wig was laying on the table and he was staring at it for a while, then he said "It looks like a gineua pig!" After that, whenever we went anywhere, he told me "Wear your own head Mom"
So go forth with courage ladies and "Wear your own head". I figure if people don't want to look at me they can close their eyes and walk into walls!!!

I cut my own hair and can't
I cut my own hair and can't do the back so I let my husband do it. It took him awhile to get the knack and the first time it looked like he used pinking shears. I didn't have to look at it and the ladies who sat behind me at work never said a word. He's gotten lots better at it years later.0 -
Hair story
Thanks everyone for your comments. My son is very special to me and a good person. You are right that he "gave me permission" to do what I needed to do. Do not wear the wigs unless its a job interview or something like that.0 -

My baby well 15 year old encouraged me to ditch the headscarf.......My hair was about a quarter inch, every morning he asked "Hey Mum, are you going to tuck your hair behind your ears today, or leave it loose?"....Little Devil! But He DID IT! Bless them all eh?0 -
How special your son is
How special your son is base. It reminded me of my kids, when I lost my hair last year they actually didn't want me wearing the wig even when I was bald. And you know what? I didn't, like you I figured if it didn't bother them then it didn't bother me. Hugs, Lili0 -
I LOVE it!!!
I 'wore my own head' during the whole process...only topping with a cap or a scarf for the weather (you can get a MEAN sunburn on top!!!!!lol!!!)
I had 2 DD kids, myself. Aren't they wonderful? My younger was also ED, so she was in a group home, but she was such a great support. And, through her, I met some amazing people in the gals that she shared the home with. All of them 'special'. I miss them all.....
I still have my older daughter, and she was my caregiver when my beau's dad died during my treatments. She is high functioning, and has been a true blessing. I do not have to worry about who will take care of me in my older years...

I agree Kathy - Dan is 36 now. He is high functioning also. He has the best sense of humor and the rainbow personality that makes him so special to me. He also can be very blunt in his thoughts on things. We are truly blessed.KathiM said:I LOVE it!!!
