Blood Work

I got my blood work Monday and my results came in the mail this morning. After my first cycle of Hexalen, most of my CBC counts are even lower (white, hematocrit, platelet, red, etc) then they were after carbo/taxol and 5 are higher. But my CA125 is 6.5! My hemaglobin is normal.

So I guess Hexalen is mighty potent too. I was wondering why I was having headaches again.

I am suppose to have a Urologist appointment too, but called and they still have not scheduled it. Patience, patience,(I have to remind myself that others need appointments too and it's just not about me).

Love,
Libby

    Hexalen
What was your CA125 before the first cycle of Hexalen? This sounds like a good working chemo on the cancer cells. Too bad it gets the good ones in the blood too. I'll pray they come back up quickly.
I'm glad for you. Keep us posted. (((Hugs and prayers))) Saundra

    Congrats on the low ca125
Dear Libby, congratulations on the great results from the new chemo. It is always so great to hear about another chemo working for someone. :-D Could the headaches be from the chemo? Did you read all the side affects that are posted?

It seems like on this cancer journey we are always waiting. Waiting for lab results, waiting for appts, waiting for infusion, waiting for test results. But at least we are still to be waiting for something.

    Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie

    Good News
    Hi Libby,
That is great news to hear about your Ca-125. Mine is still at 57, I had 8 rounds of carbo/taxol and 2 rounds of Doxil. I have 4 more to go.I'm hoping someday my CA-125 gets in the normal range.
    Prayers and Hugs,
    Terry

What a nice low number!! Congrats..I have had chemos that have caused me headaches. Make sure that it's not your b/p rising as I've experienced that as well..caused from chemo. ~~~Joanne

    CA125
    Saundra,

    My CA125 history:
Before surgery 1779.6, after surgery 178, after 1st chemo 119.6, after 2nd chemo 53, after 3rd 27.3, after 4th 16.3, 5th 9.8, 6th 7.2, 7th 7.9 and then treatments were stopped b/c of toxicity. Last carbo/taxol was August. Had blood work in September and CA125 was 6.4. Blood work October 17 and CA125 was 7.9. Started on Hexalen October 20th and had blood work Monday with CA125 at 6.5.

So my CA125 has remained in the normal range since my 3rd chemo treatment.

    Libby

    Wow
Those are great numbers. Mine went down steadily too in the pre surgery chemo, surgery and post surgery chemo. Was below 10 from Nov. '07 to July, '08 while I was on the low dose Taxol. Steady slow climb since then. I started near at 2988. You are blessed with the young grandkids. Our six are all teenagers and older. Thanks, Saundra
