we have been home a little over one month. He started back on chemo this past monday. he will not ever be able to have more radiation. I cry daily as well, and try so hard to keep my spirits up for our daughter. Do you find that you have to put on a happier strong appearance for people, even relatives. I feel like sometimes people forget the caregiver (wife) needs help too.0 -

hi, my husband is 58 with inoperable pancreatic cancer. After a year of treatment, his health has deteriorated and he is now off of treatment to give him a chance to recuperate. Each day is a gift, our future is today, that's all we have right now. I would really like to know how you are coping, because it feels like, although we are surrounded by people, that we are alone. Maybe chatting with someone in the same situation will help.0 -

I am 73 years old and was diagnosed with pancreatic can in June, 6 years ago. I was told that I was in stage 4, but today I am doing quite well. I have some problems with digestion and elination, but it's not too bad as I feel so fortunate. The New York Times wrote an article about me in July of 2007 and you can google me to read more.
I talk to people all over the country about living after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. In many ways, I am a MIRACLE and feel that I now have a purtpose in life, more than ever. You can write me directly at gordonhend@msn.com.

pancreatic cancer
Hi. I have adenocarcinoma of the middle and head of the pancreas. Here is my story. I am so glad to have found this group!
was diagnosed with locally advanced pancreatic cancer on Dec. 27, 2007. It is non-resectable. I am a 38 year old mother of 7. I had 29 radiation treatments and weekly Gemzar treatments beginning in January and ending in March. I then had a month off of treatment. When I was first diagnosed, my tumor measured 6.0 x 5.5 cm and was wrapped around the hepatic artery and the portal vein. In March I had an MRI and my tumor had shrunk slightly. I went back on Gemzar in April and have been on a 3 weeks on, one week off schedule since then. I started having excruciating pain in June and was given another MRI. At that point my tumor measured 4.0 x 3.7 cm. It had continued to shrink. Doctors have no idea why. It seems I am the only one they have seen Gemzar do this with. Unfortunately, my tumor was still inoperable in June. I continued to have debillitating pain throughout June and was hospitalized at the beginning of July. I had bilateral pneumonia with my lungs 1/3 collapsed. I also had 6 ulcers and stones and sludge in my gall bladder. I was in the hospital a total of 8 days. Upon release I felt better for a few days and then my pain increased some more. I was finally given a celiac access nerve block -- I have been pain free since. In fact, I am completely off narcotics for the first time since my diagnosis. My white cell count has been too low for treatment three times in the last two months. I had my most recent MRI last week. My tumor now measures 3.1 x 2.3 cm! Still no medical explanation but who cares! I am beating this dreadful disease so far. My tumor is still inoperable but is shrinking. I feel blessed.0 -

Alyssa, Your story is simply amazing! It is so exciting to hear good news about one with such a difficult cancer. I pray that you will continue to improve, the tumors will shrink, and one day you will be healed - a medical miracle! I also have pancreatic cancer but it is a very rare form called neuroendocrine tumors or Islet cell carcinoma. My type is slower growing than adenocarcinoma. Nice to meet you! Feel free to message me if you want to stay in touch.0 -

My sister was diagnoised with endometiral cancer 1/08. The cancer has spread to her organs in her abdominal wall. She went through 2 surgeries to remove the uterus but they were unsuccesful. She completed her chemothearpy 7/08. She has seen 4 Oncologist since the last surgery and they give different opions. Could you please recommend a good diet for her. She is depressed and is leaning on my to help her. She does not have the strenght to do research at this time. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have even though you have a different type of cancer.0 -

Hi Riostax26,
You might want to check out the website http://www.nutritional-solutions.net/
Dr. Jeanne Wallace PHD,CNC . She specializes in cancer patients and provides a nutritional and supplement protocol specific to each individuals health situation. She does charge for her services. You can find out more by exploring her website. We hired her shortly after I was diagnosed. The amount of information she gave us was overwhelming at first but through the telephone conferences included in the fee, I am now on a diet that I believe has been helping me to fight my cancer. I also take supplements recommended by her. Each recommendation comes with an explanation of the science behind the food or supplement including notation of the studies that support it.0 -

I have just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and have only heard negative things until I found this website. You're story has given me hope. My cancer right now is inoperable and I am going through treatment. Don't know what the outcome will be but I'm fighting everyday to thing and act positive. This cancer was just diagnosed so it's new to me. It has not spread to any other organs and i am healthy and young as the doctors put it so I have a chance to fight this. You're story inspired me.0
