DANCE!! DANCE!! DANCE!!!
Oh Kathi.... I am soooo excited for you, you'd almost think it was me dancing for myself!!! I am sooo friggin' (are we allowed to say that here??) happy for you, I could just cry!!
In one of your other posts, you had mentioned that you were 53 yrs. young... and when I read that, two things immediately jumped to my mind:
1) You do not LOOK 53 yrs young!!! If we were to have a guessing game, I would not have put you past 30 yrs... and even then, I would have thought "Am I being mean? If she's 25 yrs, then she is going to hate me for guessing 30 yrs!"
2) We are the same age... well, we were born in the same year. I was born in January so I'll become 54 early in the new year, but still... it was a very good year for givin' birth to babies
So, I can so relate to you when you talk about the fears, the scares... and then to find you have been battling a few of these beasts, not just one! And you DID it!! You slaughtered them and made their friends back off. You are truly an inspiration to me!!
I would do the nekkid dance for you, but that might cause an evacuation of my neighbourhood

Hey Babs... what prep do you drink for the CT Scan? The only thing they've made me drink is water. 500ml before I leave home and then another 500ml bottle which they give me when I get there.
I haven't had the CT Scans with dye... is the prep stuff the dye?

I love the banana smoothie!KathiM said:'Readycat'......mmmmmm...
I HATE this stuff, especially since they are always pushing the bananna!!!
The berry has better flavor....
Hugs, Kathi
LOL! I can eat/drink pretty much anything when required, but I always actually like the banana smoothie taken with the CT scan! Weird, especially since the first time I had to drink one was shortly after that first colonoscopy and hearing those 3 awful words! I suppose it's so much better, for me, than is the PET, since I am claustrophobic!

Interesting... I've heard of the CT scans with contrasting dye, but I've never had one. I wonder what the criteria is to have a CT scan with the prep and the ones without? I'll keep my fingers crossed that whatever the difference, I don't need one

PET Scannerunknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator
Babs... the PET scanner is like the CT scan... only a bit longer on the inside. There's an opening at both ends.
If you get claustrophobic during a CT scan, then the PET scan may not be any different. What I would suggest is that when they send you into the machine... close your eyes. Just go off into a little dream world of your own... and don't open them again until it's all over. You may even fall asleep, except the voice of the technician comes in over the sound system to keep telling you how much longer you have.
The scan takes about 30 minutes.

PET/CT/MRIunknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator
yes, the PET is in between an MRI and a CT. It's longer than a CT, so your entire body can be encased in the scanner without having your head hanging out the end. I suppose if they didn't jam you so darn close up to the top of the scanner it wouldn't be so bad! I take Ativan to relax me and I do just fine. The first time I took one I thought I would be tough, how bad could it be? I spent the entire time in the scanner, which felt like 2 hours, imagining myself freaking out and demanding they get me out NOW! I tried to position myself so i could keep an eye on one or the other of the openings, but you can't move or the scan doesn't work, so it was tough! With the Ativan, I am able to close my eyes and relax, as Cheryl says, and it goes quickly with no problems! I figure we have enough anxiety with this whole beast, I don't need any unnecessarily added!
