Yes Tarceva is a good medication that they use for Lung Cancer. Its very expensive so I hope whoever is taking the Tarceva has real good Insurance. If not please Ask your onocologist if you can get some help. I took this medication for about 1 month to see if it would shrink the tumors I had on my lungs which it didnt. My onocologist says that If I couldnt afford this drug that he would contact Tarceva for some help for me. So there is help out there. You just have to reach for it.

God Bless and Prayers to all
Pam

    Just a thought
I was looking over new lung cancer treatments the other day and I came across one where they give you a light sensitive dye. They attach the dye to something that the cancer cells absorb faster than regular tissues (probably sugar) and after a set period put a light probe into the lungs. When the light hits the dye, the cells self-destruct and the cancer is gone. This treatment can be repeated as necessary. I wondered at the time if it would work with BAC cancer. It is offered to folks that can't have more surgery. (If you can have surgery, that is more successful, at least to doctors who haven't had to deal with chest tubes, shot nerves, and breathing woes!) Not all communities have all kinds of treatment, but it is worth looking around to see what is available if the Tarceva isn't working for you. Good luck!

    Tarceva
That sounds really promising. I will definately look around and keep my eyes open for that. It gives me some hope and to not be so fearful of this awful disease.

    More information on nonsurgical options
I looked around a bit for some information on options. This is what I was talking about. I hope it is enough for you to be able to look up about the technique. There was a lot more in the article. Photodynamic Therapy seems to be the right name for the light sensitive dye technique.

Photodynamic Therapy Effective for Patients with Early Central Lung Cancer Not Eligible for Surgery
Researchers from the UK have reported that treatment with photodynamic therapy is an effective strategy for patients who have early central lung cancer and are not eligible for surgery. The details of this study appeared in the May 2007 issue of Thorax.
