Interview with our local paper
Last Thursday the local paper interviewed for Ovarian Cancer Awareness, because I write an article each year and send it to the Letter to Editor section. Anyway, just in case you were interested in reading the link below should bring you to the feature story they did in
the Kanabec times for Ovarian Cancer Awareness. Some of the details and time lines are mixed up but overall she did well. She even got a lot in the article about MOCA(MN Ovarian Cancer Alliance).
She does have me as a 5 year survivor, when I am almost a six year survivor. :-) And always says things like I was talking to the Dr not Randy, and even got my job incorrect - I was the Fiscal Supervisor. LOL :-) And she always says HE when she is talking about a Dr, she must have a male doc.
She also said I found it hard to talk to my doctor about some of the symptoms and I said sometimes women find it hard. DAH Oh Well the big thing is it helped get the word out ~ here is the link.

Oh Ya she took a couple pictures and I did have a really nice bandana on in
one but must have liked the brittany spears moment the best. Too Funny!
I encourage everyone to write their local papers to help raise awareness.

Hi Sandy, I go to the chatroom in the morning to have my cup of coffee with others. Sometimes I am bit late for the coffee clutch group. I hear it is busy in the evening. God bless you also! BonnieRose0 -
Good for you!
Hi, Bonnie!
I've enjoyed reading all of your posts; and love that sincere smile on your face :-)
I also tried writing a letter to the Editor of our local newspaper; no reply! It's
been about 2 weeks. I'm still hoping they'll come around and print something.
Take care!
Love,

Bonnie - I had time to read your article over the weekend. You are such an inspiration. Really. I loved it. You should be so proud.
I think next year it would be wonderful to get a bunch of us to "tell out stories" and send them out to papers nationwide and to the magazines also. Somebody has got to listen to us at some point, right? It's October 1st and already today I've seen and heard more about breast cancer then I have in the whole past 9 months about ovarian cancer.
Congratulations!

Thanks much Sue, Ovarian cancer got another spot in our paper this week as they forgot the signs and symptoms and put it in with a not about it missing in the article. :-) Also a letter to the editor was written about how much they appreciated the article. So 3 times in the past month there has been something on ovarian cancer awareness. My original letter, the interview, the info and another letter.0 -

Kris, I agree with you. We need to get the news out!! I attend a support group once a month. Most of those who attend have had breast cancer. There is one other in our group who had ovarian cancer. I haven't visited with her much because she doesn't come every month. I had no idea that September was ovarian cancer awareness month. I empathize with breast cancer victims, but I think it is so very important that we spread the word about our disease. I hope to start giving speeches to make people more aware of how sneaky it is. Ironically, I was diagonosed in September of 2007!! I had my last chemo treatment January 21st of this year. I did have an e-mail from a journalist from the "Wall Street Journal" wanting me to tell my story but I was in the middle of treatment and I could't put two words together muchless an entire article. I will keep you abreast of how my speaking engagements go.
God bless us all!! Carol0
