    you are right
I am not a stage 4 survivor, but I did have cancer 3 times in 10 years. Breast twice and bone once. And you are so right, GOD IS GOOD. All this began over 22 years ago with me and today I am 60 (was 38 when first dx), in reasonable health for my age in spite of some lasting side effects of treatment, food on the table (in spite of being in your shoes with the disability at one time), and just all around happy to be alive.
All this is to say, hang in there girl, do what must be done, get through this and move on to bigger and better things. And don't be a stranger here so we can help. :)

    Hello!
I am not a stage 4 survivor, being staged at 2B, but I welcome you into the fold, nonetheless! You will find this to be a wonderful, nurturing room, with laughter, compassion, and honestly~ True Friends, most of us who only know each other in the cyber-world.

Come in often and keep us up to date with you and your treatment plan.

I am Claudia, in California, am 59, though I have to be reminded of that, as most of the time I FEEL 39~ and I am a 5 1/2 year survivor.

    Hugs,
    Claudia

    Another Well-wisher
There's lots of new drugs that are out now for breast cancer, but it depends on the kind of breast cancer you have. They pay really close attention now to what fuels your type of cancer and how it works. If your cancer is estrogen positive and you are post-menapausal, you can lower the estrogen produced by your body fat with an aromatase inhibitor. The Arimidex advertised with pink boxing gloves in women's magazines is such a drug. Tamoxifen is used for pre-menapausal folks. If you are HER2neu positive, they have herceptin that is biologically designed to stop the cancer growth. I believe the side effects are much lower than the usual mixture of chemo drugs. However, chemo is often the medicine of choice when cancer is aggressive and spreading, especially when it won't respond to hormone control or biologicals like the HER2 stuff. There are other drugs, but you want the stuff that works best for what you have. See the oncologist, tell them of what problems you had with chemo the first time around, and listen to what is recommended for your particular cancer. Maybe they have some ideas to make this time around easier. If you had chemo even two years ago, you might be surprised at some of the things they can do now to make the trip a little less arduous should they possibly recommend that line of action. I'll be thinking of you. Good luck!
