hey nubis i ran into you on
hey nubis i ran into you on another post here...my wife has ben on topotecen for 8 treatments now, gonna get 2 weeks off,a pet scan and right back on the stuff.Compared to cisplatin and some of the other drugs side effects arent too bad.My wife is kinda hypersensitive to things and does ok with it...our only big issues were white blood cell count(which everyone gets on all chemos)and MAD mood swings from the steroids they give with it.Heck shes eaven getting hair back on it!Seems much more tolerable than first line chemos...lets both pray it works...it was only for ovarian cancers untill recently upgraded by fda for sclc.GOD bless

    small cell
Thank you for sharing. As you can see the most of the people have non-small. So I don't like to hear your wife has small cell, but is good to know there is somebody with your same situation. The tumor size of my husband is 10*12 cm. And everything was working radiation and quimo until the last scan showed new tumors, so doctor started a second cycle of quimo (TOPOTECAN) we just finished the first week and YES, I can see the difference is not too hard as the first one . But I hope this can kill the cancer in my husband.
I will pray for your wife too.

    because of
because of statistics.doctors got a job to do,plain and simple. And,plain and simple not too many people live a long time with small cell. Its his job to tell us that.Does this mean that on nov.30th my wife will take her last breath? NO! Shes not milk, and wont turn sour on her expiration date(i got that line here when someone else said "were not milk cartons,we dont have expiration dates"Treatments are changing, scans given more often and radiation is getting better.plus i saw a study online and it said in these cases drs are only 10% right in predicting it so lets hope it all works out, keep praying and enjoy each day we have with our loved ones

    IT'S HARD
I know is hard, but a positive attitude will help you. For me, its hard too, no kids, alone in this contry (I'm from Mexico) and all my dreams are stopped from now. But I believe in miracles and I'm praying for one. I don't know what to tell you, just that I can understand your feeling. Lets pray together and keep your wife on treatment. Hope is the last option.
