Canada is our home
We were born here and will be here forever. We live in the province of Saskatchewan. Lots of lakes and trees and open spaces. I am forever grateful for our health care system that just picks you up and takes care of everything and never sends you a bill.0 -

Hi Mary,
I'm from Jacksonville, Florida. Born in Vidalia, Georgia and lived in various parts of U.S. as a child (father was in Navy). Moved to Jacksonville in 1965, so this is home.
Christie
Christie, my daddy lives in Jax, as do both my sisters, a brother and a nephew and his family! Daddy and one sister are west side, other sister is in Jax beach, brother is westside I think (he doesn't keep in contact with the family), and nephew and his family are in St. Augustine but work in Jax. Will be down there for Thanksgiving! I was there in the early 80's, married my husband and went traveling from there with the Navy. Daddy was transferred to Jax after my twin and I graduated and they just stayed. His final duty station was the hospital at Beaufort, but he did the geo-bachelor thing. I love St. Augustine beach, spent many a day there as a young woman!

Momma LOVED Solvang! When we were young we used to travel there on vacation often when we were stationed on the west coast! I don't really remember what was there as i was pretty young, and we used to go to MANY places up and down the coast, but the name stuck with me!

Hi Peter,
If I remember correctly you were diagnosed a few days before my husband was. I was just wondering how you are feeling. My husband is having surgery on the 15th and then will start chemo end of October. You are doing it the other way, let me know how you are doing.
Thanks

I have just finished #6 chemo. I will have CT scan on 9/15 (the same day as your husband's surgery) and meeting with my onc on 9/19 to discuss the progress. My CEA drops from 50 to 14, so it looks like the chemo is working. But the CT scan will confirm it. I still don't have any side effect from chemo other than a minor constipation. I still have 95% of my hair. It may have something to do with my diet and daily exercise. Tell you husband to have faith and be positive. Exercise and diet is very important. There are a lot of books on how and what to eat for cancer patient. I have learned a lot from those books. Let me know if you have any question.

Fallbrook, CA
Fun question to post!
I live in Fallbrook, CA, which is in north San Diego County. I've lived in San Diego County for 18 years & lived most of my childhood before getting married in Orange County, Ca (Anaheim and Orange, specifically). My dad was military until I was 10 years old, so places I lived prior to age 10 include Fairfield CA (between San Francisco & Sacramento); Omaha Nebraska; & Ft. Lewis, Washington (near Tacoma/Seattle).

The hills of Tennessee
Hi All,
I just got back from sunny California, started at Salt Lake City, Zion National Park, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and left my 22 year old daughter to work in the Big Bear Mountains of San Bernadino. It was fun and I think I would like to live out west some day. Anyway I was born and raised in Dolly Parton country at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is the most visited park in the nation but I find that a lot of people especially out west have never heard of it?? The mountains are not big and spectacular like the west but very peaceful and calming. We live in a log cabin in the woods with 2 cats and 4 dogs. My town is Sevierville, TN and we own a small motel in Pigeon Forge, TN. If you ever want to come to see my neck of the woods I have the place for you to stay. This was a fun post to read. Thanks Mary.

Thanks Peter, I'm glad to hear you are doing well with your Chemo sounds like it's working for you. the Oncologist told us that the chemo regimen that my husband will be going on that he should be fine for side effects and shouldn't loose his hair either. He will be getting Folfox + Avistan, is that what you are on? We are being positive and we both have a good support system.
I wish you luck in your fight, please keep me informed of your progress and I will keep you informed of my husband's progress.
Good Luck
