Does anyone else have lumpy bits under their arm where they had mastectomy and lymph nodes out?, im only 4 weeks out of my last chemo so im pretty confident its nothing nasty, but your input will hopefully ease my mind. Tan x

    Greetings
I wouldn't call mine 'lumpy bits' but lumps and bumps yes.....I believe it's the muscle and tissues after surgery that harden and need to be massaged, they will get better I'm told in time......time.......what a wonderful thing eh!

I had the same thing. Lumps and bumps in the armpit area. I never did ask if it was anything to be concerned about. I felt it was probably ok. They gradually diminish.

    lumpy bits
I had lumpy bits and still do. I had a lump come up under my arm, on the side I had the mastetomy, after a year. I was scared to death and the surgeon took the lump out. It turned out it was just scar tissue and fatty tissue from the mastetomy and the surgery was unnecessary. Always ask if you feel lumps, better safe than sorry. Never be afraid to ask questions. I learned that from my cancer doctor. "No question is stupid."

    Bits and pieces
I worried a lot about every lumpy bit in my chest wall after my mastectomy (and later operation for lung cancer, totally unrelated but same worry). I made the doctor check it under my arm where they did surgery and he said it was just scar tissue. I kept an eye on it and he was right--it didn't grow. It just mostly stayed lumpy at the scar site. If it changes after you think you know what your "new normal" is, get it checked out again. For now, have the doctor palpate it once to make sure and then rest at ease knowing it is just scar tissue.

I had a lumpy bit (good
I had a lumpy bit (good vocab choice, Tan, "lump" is just too loaded a word) at my scar site. So I went down to Kaiser and made them feel me up. The doc. told me it was scar tissue. I felt so much better, sometimes I think I will be tempted to even make things up just to go to the doctor and hear "everything is okay". After the trauma of DX, don't we sometimes feel like wives who have been cheated on once, checking their husbands' collar for lipstick everynight? love, Joyce

    thanks everyone
thanks to all of you , yet again, you have put my mind at ease. I am off to breast clinic anyway this week so i will ask about my "lumpy bit", and Joyce, you are so right, choosing the word "lump" felt like i was asking for trouble..., this is all a huge learning curve, you think its all over when you finish chemo, but it isn't is it?, love to all Tan x
