Sloan Kettering

My dad has an inoperable tumor who was given 6 months by another reputable hospital and told he would die with a biopsy. However, with the fine leadership of Memorial Sloan Kettering under the "Good" Surgeon Dr. Gutin the biopsy was successful and did not have any affect on my dad's quality of life. In addition, he was diagnosed June 07 and is currently under the care of the "Good" Neuro Oncologist Dr. Gavrilovic of Memorial Sloan Kettering of Basking Ridge New Jersey. It is a 2 year old building on a pristine campus in the middle of forest with all new top of the art equiptment. They have aquariums on both floors like you would see at a real aquarium. I wouldn't bring my dad anywhere else. I travel from the Atlanic City Area which is about 1.5 hours each way. I can honestly say that it has been a burden off my back instead of dealing with a non tumor center. He goest there and can get blood test, MRI, testing, Dr. Visits, and more under one roof and in most cases in the same day within 4 to 5 hours. Congratulations on your consideration of Sloan. We went to sloan in New York also. The "Good" Dr. Nolan is the best in New York to get you started and is the neuro oncologist. Good luck and God Bless. My email is stargazer46@comcast.net0

Thank you so much for your reply. RIght now I'm the process of deciding where to do the treatment. I know Sloan Kettering's reputation is wonderful. The place where I'm at right now is good too (Buffalo), but logistically it might be easier to seek treatment in the city. I was also considering the Basking Ridge facility for radiation. Do you feel the staff there is as up-to-date as those in the city? Is you dad's radiologist at the facility or is he in the city? It does seem like it would be easier to get in and out of Basking Ridge every day than into the city. Thanks so much for your input.joerullo said:My dad has an inoperable tumor who was given 6 months by another reputable hospital and told he would die with a biopsy. LisaF. I honestly can tell you that Basking Ridge which is only two years old and you can still smell the new carpet has state of the art everything. Call Dr. Gavrilovic at Basking Ridge New Jersey. I met him by the way in Dr. Craig Nolan's office at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. The campus of the facility is on a pristine acreage of forest and is very comforting with security and valet service. I wouldn't have done it any other way for my dad. It is a one stop shop. You get your treatment, blood test, MRI, examinations, and many other services the same day scheduled for your convenience. It feels like the first time every time we go as far as the empathy and understanding. Dr. Gavrilovic is one of the most objective, intelligent doctors I have dealt with who has empathy, concern, compassion, and understands what quality of life is.LisaF2008 said:Thank you so much for your reply. Sloan Kettering
My Dad is going through Melanoma right now. He wasn't even able to get into Sloan because they were to booked up. I did get him into The Cancer Treatment Center of America though. They are wonderful there!!! I can not believe how much they care about their patients. They treat my Dad and everyone of their patients like they are family. We spoke with several patients and their family members, and they all love it there. They treat the whole person not just their cancer. Some of the patients have come to them after being practially being killed by another so called Oncologist. I am so glad they were able to get my Dad in before he had any other treatments. You can check them out on line. www.cancercenter.com or on my site www.cancerendeavors.com They have a few different locations. And you can chat with someone online 24/7. I hope this helps. Good luck.0 -
