I'm finding the posts hard to read. These old eyes can't see the black letters on blue background without really straining. Other than that, I guess I'll get used to the new format, although I was really comfortable with the old one...Carl
Change is not always easy...perhaps if we just give it a little time for us to get used to the new CSN and for CSN to work out the kinks....

I like the new design much
I like the new design much more. Used to be, the posting that initiated a thread appeared twice, which I found irritating. But much more important is that now threads are ordered according to their most recent posting (instead of their initial posting). So now when a new post is added to a thread, the thread floats to the top.

new design
I haven't been here for a few days, and it was a real shock to see the new design!
Guess we will get used to it after a while, and probably think the old one is not so hot.
I like being able to see the entire script of what I am writing and not waste time on a preview.

I was part of a group that helped CSN test the new site last year and the main reason for the change is that the CSN outgrew the old hardware and software. It was being held together by bubble gum, band-aids, and duct tape. Anyone out there that has been part of new software knows it will take time to iron out kinks and for us to learn it as well as we knew the other board.
Try to be patient y'all and know that behind the scenes are many many people making this the special place it is. I am betting that Jose, Greta, and Dana have worked way too many hours this summer and will continue to until we are satisfied. Thank you for all you do guys and gals!!!!

It's also good that the number of new postings is shown in the main thread list, and you can click there to go to the first new posting. (It's a little odd, though, that the subject of a follow-up is not assumed to be the same as the subject of the post that it's following up.)

New design
I like the new design. I like that our pictures go up next to our posts. I also like how it puts the last posts on top so I don't feel like I missed something. I think it just take time to get use to but I but we will all be pros before you know it. I also like how you can click on the picture and you have that persons profile. On the old design I could never find peoples profile. I think they did a nice job and my thanks go out to all that made this possilbe.0 -
I thought I had been
I thought I had been ex-communicated when I tried to connect. New design is very "visually pleasing"....but I'm an old fashioned Gal and preferred the KISS functionality on the old site.0 -

Wow! I haven't been on here for a few days. What a surprize. Pops right out at you! I guess it will take some time to get used to. I am one of those people who doesn't adapt to change right away. But I guess it will be ok. Probably like it. I do like the pictures on the side though. That is pretty cool.0 -
New web design
I really like it. I like the photos and that you don't have to preview comments. I also did not notice how the threads move to the top...still working on understanding that one. It is also great that a message is not posted twice. Never could figure that one out0 -
New Design
I like the new design, for the reasons mentioned by a few others: the newer comments are first and i like the main screen telling you when the last post was; keeps from having to surf to topics that don't have new comments. Was a little surprised when a picture popped up with my login, since i must have posted that picture when i first joined in 2004. Haven't decided if I should leave the old pic or load up a newer, more battleworn, pic yet . It was nice to remember how fresh I looked just 4 years ago Anyhow, I think once we get used to the new design we will learn to like it much better! I agree regarding the old double posting of the initial comment; that irritated me as well!0 -
New Web Design
I think the new design may take some getting used to, but one fatal flaw in the previous system was that posts would essentially be lost to pages 2 and beyond when they fell off the first page. So often responses didn't get seen. It looks like this is now working like Colon Club, where each response brings the original post and responses to the top of the list. That's a good thing. More people will see more posts and more information will be shared.
That said, for two days the original link has given me an "Apache" page indicating CSN has an issue. I decided to google CSN and got a link that works.
Anyway, I think everyone should bear with it and you may find that it is actually a lot more useful.

Old bug still present
Does anyone want bug reports? Maybe not, but here's one, anyway. Most forum software does not require you to go through an explicit step of logging in and supplying a password every time you access a forum. The browser (in my case Firefox) remembers the site and the user name and password and handles the negotiation for you. That never quite worked with CSN in the past -- every 5th or 6th time I tried to go to the CR board of CSN, here, that is, I would instead see a form inviting me to log in with my username and password already filled in (by my browser's password manager), and I have to go through a separate log in step. The new board software has this same problem.
It's a very minor matter, but the software is not doing quite the right thing here.
Also, there are a few features missing that are generally found in other forum software.
