Hello,
my husband has been diagnosed with stage III esophageal cancer over a year ago. He underwent chemo (Taxotere, Cisplatin, 5FU) almost immediately which greatly reduced his tumor in time for surgery. He had his resection almost a year ago now. He then went ahead with other rounds of the same chemo but after 3 months of this regimen, the PET Scan showed two 1.5 cm metastasis in his abdomen. They recommended he undergoes more chemo, this time the Folfiri regimen. After yet another 3 months of this, the PET Scan showed no significant changes in the metastasis in his abdomen and a new one near his jugular vein, in the neck. My husband is now refusing more chemo, wanting to go the alternative route. The doctors are pushing for more chemo, this time the Eox protocol with Epirubicin (called Ellence in the US).

Anyone has had Eox/Epirubicin? Anyone has tried something else than chemo when it seemed the cancer would not go away?

Excuse me as I forgot to mention that Eox is the only thing the doctors can suggest to us. No radiotherapy or anything else can do for my husband's case. We also have been told Eox is a protocol where my husband would be sick for 7 to 14 days. After a year of chemo, off and on, and the longest rounds of treatment have been lasting for 5 continuous days of sickness, I can't imagine what 7 to 14 days rounds of treatment would do to him. Also, as we live near a university center, with currently consult with what are deemed the best doctors possible...yet, their suggestions are limited.
