neuropathy and high blood pressure

Hi everyone. I went to doctor today for my post chemo check up and he told me I have stage 2 to 3 neuropathy from taxotere. He gave me a script for vitamin B6 which is supposed to help but he is worried about long term effects. Just what I need something else to worry about if cancer isn't enough. Then he tells me my blood pressure is steadily going up I am now at 140/90. Before all this I was a steady 120/80. I was wondering if anyone else dealt with either the neuropathy or the blood pressure issues during taxotere and if they had permanent issues because of it. PS this is only my second round of taxotere and I need 2 more. Dr. is already talking about lowering dose.

    I had high blood pressure, and have been on meds for it before I was diagnosed with cancer, so I was already there when I did taxotere. It did not seem to make much difference.

    I have had high blood pressue, which is controlled by medication, for the past 25 years and had 4 rounds of taxotere and cytoxan. My pressue remained steady throughout treatment. However, I now have neuropathy in the feet and fingers. My last infusion was April 18th and since then have had no relief from it. I was Neurontin but had to stop taking that because it made me feel awful. My doctor said that the neuropathy MAY go away, with "may," being the operative word. Maybe someone who was on taxotere a good long while ago may have some better input for you. Good luck with the rest of your infusions. Marilynn

    I had high blood pressure during my chemo in 1999 and again in 2007. Since treatment my blood pressure has returned to normal. I also have neuropathy in my arm and hand (lymphedema). My arm and hand both swell and my hand has a lot numbness and tingling as does my arm. I too took Nuronton (i think i misspelled that sorry) but it didn't help much. My doctor perscribed a low dose of Paxil which is for depression (i have never been a depressed person) and it has worked very well for me. I also wear a pressure sleeve on my hand and arm. I know it is not fun to have other issues on top of the cancer issue, I try to look as a small price to pay to still be here to enjoy a long life! Try to keep positive and know that you are on the road to recovery~
