hello! Today is my 4 year anniversary! DX at 43 was 3-B lobular, left side, treatment: mastectomy, 12 weeks (dose dense weekly) of A/C, followed by 6 weeks (dose dense weekly)of taxol, then 36 radiation treatments. Give me the works!
Lost my hair (wigs for me, till I had an inch of white, curly hair)Lost a couple of toenails (just 1 big toe - weird!)Gained 40 pounds, got lymphodema in my left arm, chemopause, chemobrain, aches & pains, hot flashes.Oh yeah - got laid off after 17 years.
I'm almost back where I started before chemo. Chemobrain is pretty much gone, I've lost the weight and aches and pains are finally gone. Lymphodema is under control without sleeve. (weight loss helps) hot flashes under control (effexor)toenails are back. Went to school, have a great job, active at church and my clubs, told my husband I want a divorce (his negativity is too much)Looking forward to reconstruction now that my good one is starting to sag (thanks chemopause)with reconstruction I can get 2 perkys and a tummy tuck-Cool!
The new normal is great! I'm at peace and looking foward.

Jill, you go girl! Congradulations and i'm darn happy for you. I laughed kinda when you said you asked your husband for a divorce. It's funny how we have to weed out the negitive aspects in our lives, hell even if its a spouse. Well i hope you find happiness and forever good health. Stay good to yourself and god bless you.

New to the sisterhood and having hard time with chemo, but I had to laugh and smile at your post. That is exactly what i told my friends= Hey when this is all over I can get a TRAM flap/tummy tuck, new Boob , and fix up the other one to match. This 41 yo will look like a 25 yo. Oh well I will get there! Patty B0
